Job Descriptions:

The Hygiene Promoter will be responsible for promoting safe hygiene and sanitation practices at community and household levels through awareness sessions, behavior change communication (BCC), and community mobilization activities, contributing to improved public health outcomes.

Job Requirements:

    1. Community Engagement & Hygiene Promotion
  • Conduct hygiene promotion and awareness sessions in communities, schools, and public institutions.
  • Promote key hygiene messages including handwashing with soap, safe water handling and storage, food hygiene, menstrual hygiene management (MHM), and environmental sanitation.
  • Facilitate Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) or similar participatory approaches where applicable.
  • Support the establishment and strengthening of WASH committees and hygiene clubs.
    1. Behavior Change Communication (BCC)
  • Deliver BCC activities using approved Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
  • Adapt hygiene messages to suit local cultural, social, and religious contexts.
  • Conduct household visits and follow-up activities to reinforce positive behavior change.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
  • Collect and record data related to hygiene promotion activities and community feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions conducted, attendance, and observed outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly activity reports to the WASH Officer or Project Coordinator.
    1. Coordination & Support
  • Work closely with WASH Engineers, Community Mobilizers, local leaders, and relevant authorities.
  • Participate in trainings, coordination meetings, and project review sessions.
  • Support emergency WASH response activities when required.
