In Afghanistan, AKF works with rural communities in mountainous, remote or resource poor areas to improve quality of life in the areas of natural resource management, market development, governance, education, and health. 

Job Descriptions:

POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Regional Manager AFS is a member of the senior management team and offers a great opportunity to lead and learn through focused research and exposures to AKF(Afg) work in this field, providing support to the Regional Director on all AFS Programme related matters.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    The Regional Manager AFS would be responsible for planning and implementation of all AFS activities (Crops, Land & Water, Climate Resilience, Horticulture and Livestock).
•    To monitor the progress made in each of the activities, highlight lessons learned, flag difficulties and challenges in program implementation and communication with RD.
•    To oversee AFS system, program quality, input distribute and financial expenditure to ensure transparency and accountability.
•    To enhance team building, trust building and coordination between AFS team and sub sectors and ensure AFS team actively contribute to program quality implementation.
•    To actively manage AFS team, their performance and contribute to delivering capacity building programs and on job learning opportunities for AFS and sub sector.
•    To represent AKF Takhar in technical meetings in internal and external platforms (DAIL and Sectoral Working Group on AFS).
•    To track and monitor YPO (Yearly Planning Operation) to monitor physical and financial progress in AFS sector and sub sector.
•    To write and submit timely reports on AFS activities with the assistance of Gender and Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Unit Officers. To translate research findings into easy to communicate ideas for effecting a process of discovery at the community level.
•    Provide operational and strategic input and advice on AFS-Crops Programme matters to RD and the AKF, A- AFS Department on new program concepts and design.
•    Liese and keep good communications with the National AFS Manager.
•    Provide yearly plan and job description for all AFS team members and sub – sectors.
•    Maintains close relations and coordinate with other sectors (program and support) for better program implementation.
•    Maintain close cooperation with local authorities, NGOs and influenced privates to coordinate activities in the region and assist the RD to strengthen relationship with them.
•    Provide appropriate and timely feedback, inputs, and advice to AFS Team, the RD, and relevant stakeholders on AFS relevant matters which support program development initiatives and activities.
•    Preparing monthly Cash Request for AFS Development Department to the Finance Department.
•    To carry out responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects AKF’s commitment to protecting children and vulnerable adults in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy and Child Safeguarding Policy. 
•    To report any suspicions or actual violations of the Safeguarding Policy and and/or Child Safeguarding Policy as per the given training.

OCCASIONAL SIGNIFICANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Coordination work with the other AKDN Agencies, NGOs and Governmental Agencies to cooperate with RD if required.
•    Any other job-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

DECISION-MAKING & AUTHORITY
•    Signing of all AFS Activities related documents and bills for verification per AKF, A Rule within the Region.
•    Responsible for delegation of all AFS related tasks at the regional and area level.
•    Appraise the AFS Department Management Team as their Performance based on the AKF, A Performance Management System and Policy.

Job Requirements:

JOB SPECIFICATION
•    University degree BSc from Agricultural Recognized Institution. Candidate holding master's degree is preferred.
•    At least 5-7 years of job-related experience and qualifications in similar positions.
•    Ability to work well with others.
•    Strong Communication, Problem Solving, Teamwork, and Management Skills.
•    Good Computer Skills.
•    Good Communication and report writing skills in English and one of the Local Language, Dari or Pashto.
