About Agency for Rehabilitation Assistance & Development of Afghanistan (ARADA):

The Agency for Rehabilitation Assistance & Development of Afghanistan - ARADA is a non- governmental, non-political, non-profit, humanitarian organization. ARADA was established by a group of profoundly experienced, professional, and dedicated development practitioners during dire refugee circumstances in Peshawar, Pakistan on the 1st of May, 1992. In Afghanistan, ARADA was officially registered in 2003 with the Ministry of Planning but in 2006 with the Ministry of Economy. ARADA has three decades of experience in emergency response projects as well as in development assistance and services to Afghan vulnerable people within Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The objective of the project is to provide emergency assistance to the most vulnerable returnees and households affected by drought with the aim to improve their food security in the districts of Goshta, Dara-e-Nur, Jalalabad, Kama, Kot, Kuz Kunar, Rodat, and Behsud of Nangarhar province. It will be unconditional cash-for-food Through this intervention, the most vulnerable drought-affected households and returnee will receive FSAC cluster recommended food basket for the period of four months.

Job Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct community mobilization activities in the targeted districts to raise awareness about the project and its objectives.
  • Engage with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to facilitate the smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Organize and conduct community meetings and information sessions to inform beneficiaries about the project details and assistance mechanisms.
  • Utilize the food consumption scorecard and rCSI based on cluster vulnerability criteria to identify the most food-insecure and vulnerable households.
  • Distribute tokens and provide detailed information to selected beneficiaries about the assistance, including how to access CFRM systems, such as Awaaz Afghanistan.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and community structures to ensure transparent selection of eligible drought-affected households.
  • Conduct household surveys and collect data to assess the impact of drought on food security and livelihoods in the targeted districts.
  • Use standardized tools and methodologies to collect accurate and reliable data.
  • Ensure that all data is recorded accurately and submitted in a timely manner to the Project Manager.
  • Work closely with other project staff, including the monitoring and evaluation team, to ensure the effective implementation of project activities.
  • Coordinate with regional clusters, including WASH, Health, Education, and Nutrition cluster partners, to verify returnee lists and coordinate the distribution of benefits.
  • Support the implementation of risk assessments for cash programming and ensure appropriate risk mitigation measures are in place.
  • Monitor the distribution of cash assistance to ensure adherence to FSAC guidelines and humanitarian standards.
  • Conduct Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) to evaluate the effectiveness of the assistance and gather feedback from beneficiaries.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on community mobilization, beneficiary selection, and data collection activities to the Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in community mobilization, survey/data collection, or similar roles within humanitarian or development projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with the local context and ability to speak the local language(s).
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Nangarhar province.
