About Agency for Rehabilitation Assistance & Development of Afghanistan (ARADA):

The Agency for Rehabilitation Assistance & Development of Afghanistan - ARADA is a non- governmental, non-political, non-profit, humanitarian organization. ARADA was established by a group of profoundly experienced, professional, and dedicated development practitioners during dire refugee circumstances in Peshawar, Pakistan on the 1st of May, 1992. In Afghanistan, ARADA was officially registered in 2003 with the Ministry of Planning but in 2006 with the Ministry of Economy. ARADA has three decades of experience in emergency response projects as well as in development assistance and services to Afghan vulnerable people within Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The objective of the project is to provide emergency assistance to the most vulnerable returnees and households affected by drought with the aim to improve their food security in the districts of Goshta, Dara-e-Nur, Jalalabad, Kama, Kot, Kuz Kunar, Rodat, and Behsud of Nangarhar province. It will be unconditional cash-for-food Through this intervention, the most vulnerable drought-affected households and returnee will receive FSAC cluster recommended food basket for the period of four months.

Job Summary

The Project Manager will oversee the successful implementation of the project, ensuring that it meets its objectives of providing timely and effective assistance to the targeted populations.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, and budgets for project activities.
  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of project activities in accordance with the project plan.
  • Ensure compliance with FSAC guidelines and standards in all project activities.
  • Lead and manage the project team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Ensure clear communication and coordination among team members and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans to track project progress and impact.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project activities and provide feedback.
  • Prepare and submit timely progress reports to senior management and donors.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Represent the project in coordination meetings with regional clusters (WASH, Health, Education, and Nutrition).
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure the safety and security of project staff and beneficiaries.
  • Address any issues or challenges that arise during project implementation.
  • Manage the project budget and ensure all expenditures are in line with the project plan.
  • Ensure financial accountability and transparency in all project activities.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to senior management and donors.
  • Oversee the beneficiary selection process, ensuring it is transparent and in line with FSAC criteria.
  • Ensure beneficiaries receive timely and adequate support as per project plans.
  • Implement mechanisms for beneficiary feedback and complaints (CFRM systems, such as Awaaz Afghanistan).

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, International Development, Humanitarian Assistance, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Proven experience in managing cash-based interventions and food security projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.
  • Fluency in English and local languages (Pashto/Dari).
