Job Descriptions:

The Project Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing a team of project staff (Provincial staff) and ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of donors. The supervisor will provide leadership and guidance to the project team and will work closely with community leaders, local authorities, and project staff to promote community participation and ownership, as well as adherence to quality standards and sustainability principles.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of project staffs, to ensure efficient and effective project implementation.
  • Delegate tasks, provide training, and support professional development as needed.
  • Participate in need assessment and feasibilities of WASH projects and flood structural mitigation projects to identify WASH priorities and design appropriate interventions.
  • Develop detailed project implementation plan, budgets, and timelines in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure that project objectives are clearly defined and understood.
  • Ensure alignment of project activities with organization objectives, donor requirements, and best practices in WASH projects.
  • Provide regular project status updates to regional office and senior management team.
  • Develop and implement processes to optimize project management efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure that activities are implemented according to plan, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project staff and partners to address challenges and ensure effective implementation.
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation systems to track project indicators, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Conduct regular field visits and inspections to assess project performance, identify issues, and propose corrective actions.
  • Compile and analyze project data to generate periodic progress reports for donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate community mobilization and participation in project planning, decision-making, and implementation.
  • Conduct awareness-raising activities on water, sanitation, and hygiene practices to promote behavior change and improve health outcomes.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to community members, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders on WASH-related topics.
  • Represent the organization in WASH-related meetings, workshops, and events at the local, regional, and national levels.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and meeting minutes, to track project milestones and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Addressing project-related challenges and conflicts promptly and proactively seeking solutions to ensure project success.

Job Requirements:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in managing WASH projects, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.

 

Knowledge and skills: 

  • Experience managing a team of project staffs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools (MS. Project, Primavera P6).
  • Strong analytical and problem – solving skills.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel and work in remote or challenging environments.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
  • Strong technical expertise in water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion interventions.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in Dari, Pashto and English languages and proficiency in computer applications.
