About OHA:

Organization for Humanitarian Assistance (OHA), was established in the year 12. January. 1994 is an Afghan, non-profit, non-governmental, non-profit organization, a cooperative partner of the UN and other international organizations implementing developmental and humanitarian projects in the southern region of Afghanistan. OHA strives to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) while strictly adhering to the humanitarian principles and key elements of good governance; participation, transparency, and accountability.

The intention is to alleviate severe suffering, spread awareness, and enable people to become self-employed and self-dependent at village, district, and city levels for boosting rural and urban economy and livelihood in consultation with donors and local communities.

With 29 years of experience, extensive knowledge, and strong roots in the society with a wide range of network and access to the hard-to-reach areas in the Southern provinces (Kandahar, Helmand, Urozgan, Zabul, Nimroz), OHA has been able to successfully implement 113 developmental and emergency response humanitarian projects from March 1995 with an impartial, neutral, independent, humane and transparent way funded by various donors (see the; our Donors section).

Close relations with people in particular with Shuras, community elders, and religious leaders, and having a professional and experienced team are the key factors of OHA’s successful work in remote and insecure geographical areas.

Our areas of work include; irrigation (canals, culverts, bridges, flood protection), education (schools, literacy, awareness campaigns), road (structure and construction), capacity building (management training, vocational training), drinking water (drilling wells and extending water supply), health system (construction of infrastructure), provision of humanitarian assistance during natural and human-made disasters.

OHA is registered with the Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and is an active member of the NGO coordination body of Southern-Western Afghanistan and Baluchistan Association for Coordination (SWABAC), with its head office in Kandahar City, and its sub-offices in Lashkargah and Zaranj cities. The rest of the provinces are either covered by the existing offices or new offices are established, may the nature of the project require it. OHA plans to establish a permanent sub-office in Kabul city so that OHA can extend its services to other provinces as well

Job Descriptions:

The responsibilities of the Field Operations Officer include, but are not limited to:

A. District Supervision

Act as the primary supervisor for field activities in assigned districts.

Ensure that field teams adhere to organizational protocols and standards.

Conduct regular visits to districts to monitor ongoing activities and resolve any issues.

Coordinate with local authorities and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of projects.

B. Data Collection and Surveying

Surveys will be conducted using ODK, MoDA, and Kobo to collect field data from beneficiaries.

Ensure accurate and timely data collection in line with the project’s objectives.

Supervise field surveyors and distributors to ensure they follow proper data collection methodologies.

Conduct quality control checks on data collected, identifying errors or inconsistencies.

C. Distribution Management

Oversee the distribution of goods (e.g., food, and non-food items) to beneficiaries in line with the organization's distribution plan.

Ensure the timely delivery of distributed items to the target beneficiaries.

Coordinate with local teams to ensure accurate beneficiary targeting and registration for distributions.

Maintain accurate records of distributions and provide reports to senior management.

D. Data Entry and Management

Enter and manage data in systems such as ODK, MoDA, and Kobo, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.

Compile and organize collected data into reports for submission to the program team.

Regularly back up data to prevent loss and ensure secure data storage.

Assist with data analysis to generate insights for program improvement.

E. Coordination and Reporting

Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports on field operations, including survey results, distribution progress, and data analysis.

Coordinate with the program and operations teams to ensure proper alignment of field activities with overall project objectives.

Provide feedback to senior management on challenges faced in the field and offer solutions to improve efficiency.

 

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Management, Information Technology, or a related field.

·  Minimum 3-4 years of experience in field operations, data management, or program implementation in humanitarian or development settings.

·  Prior experience in roles such as District Supervisor, Data Clerk, Surveyor/Distributor, or Data Entry Clerk is an asset.

·  Experience working in rural or remote areas is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in using ODK (Open Data Kit), MoDA (Mobile Data Collection Application), and Kobo for data collection and entry.

Strong knowledge of data collection methods and best practices for accuracy and reliability.

Experience with survey tools and mobile data collection platforms.

Familiarity with working in rural and remote areas.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English (both spoken and written).

  Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with data management tools and software.
