Tabish Social Health Education Organization (TSHEO) is a non-governmental, non-political, humanitarian and not for profit organization established in the year 2009 and registered with the Ministry of Economy (Reg # 1466). Tabish works in Afghanistan in Humanitarian and Development sectors such as protection, women empowerment, education, and food security.

TABISH envisions humanitarian and psychosocial welfare to all Afghans particularly to children and women and wish a country where all Afghan citizens have access to qualitative and comprehensive health, education, and social services. TABISH sees this as a fundamental right for every human being, without any discrimination of gender, ethnicity and religion

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Community Mobilization and Engagement
  • Engage with community members to raise awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation.
  • Conduct focus group discussions, household visits, and community meetings to promote hygiene education.
  • Build relationships with community leaders and other stakeholders to facilitate community involvement in WASH activities.
• Hygiene Promotion Activities
  • Develop and implement hygiene promotion sessions on topics such as handwashing, safe water handling, personal hygiene, food hygiene, and environmental cleanliness.
  • Promote key hygiene messages and encourage behavior change through innovative approaches (e.g., drama, role plays, or visual aids).
  • Distribute hygiene kits and supplies as needed and provide guidance on their use.
• Training and Capacity Building
  • Train community volunteers, health workers, and peer educators on hygiene promotion methodologies and key messages.
  • Support the formation and training of community health committees.
• Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Monitor and document the impact of hygiene promotion activities using surveys, observation, and other tools.
  • Collect data and prepare regular reports on hygiene promotion activities and outcomes.
  • Identify challenges and propose solutions to improve hygiene promotion activities.
• Coordination and Reporting
  • Coordinate hygiene promotion activities with the WASH team and other sectors (e.g., health, nutrition) to ensure integrated approaches.
  • Participate in WASH cluster meetings and other relevant coordination forums.
  • Report to the WASH Officer/Project Manager on activities, achievements, and challenges.
• Supportive Supervision
  • Conduct regular field visits to ensure quality and consistency of hygiene promotion activities.
  • Provide feedback and support to community health workers and volunteers.
• Other Duties
  • Assist with other WASH-related activities as needed.
  • Promote gender sensitivity and inclusivity in all activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education:
  • A degree or diploma in Public Health, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in hygiene promotion or community mobilization in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Experience working with vulnerable and marginalized communities.
• Skills and Competencies:
  • Good knowledge of public health and hygiene practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions and conduct training sessions.
  • Understanding of gender and protection issues.
  • Proficiency in local languages and understanding of cultural norms.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
