Afghan Social Marketing Organization (ASMO) is a social marketing and behavioral change communication organization established in August 2008. ASMO is a free-standing, not-for-profit Afghan organization that aims to create positive health outcomes by giving Afghan households the information they need to make informed and healthy choices and expanding access to high-quality health products through commercial markets.
From its inception to date, ASMO has successfully implemented multimillion-dollar projects in Afghanistan through sub-awards sponsored by USAID, focusing on improving maternal and child health outcomes through the private sect
The Community-Based Distribution (CBD) Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing the activities of Community-Based Distributors (CBDs). This role includes training and supervising CBDs, ensuring the effective distribution of ASMO’s priority health products, managing stock, and facilitating sales at community level. The CBD Officer also compiles and analyzes reports on CBD activities and provides guidance to enhance program performance. Additionally, the CBD Officer facilitates connections and linkage between CBDs nearby midwives and hospitals.
Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for new and existing CBDs to ensure they are well-versed in the use and distribution of ASMO’s products and health education techniques.
Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of CBDs.
Regularly monitor the performance of CBDs to ensure adherence to organizational standards and protocols.
Manage the inventory of ASMO’s products and ensure timely and accurate distribution to CBDs.
Facilitate connections between CBDs and local midwives and hospitals to enhance referral processes and ensure a continuum of care for community members.
Monitor stock levels, forecast needs, and coordinate with supply chain management to replenish products and address any shortages.
Supervise the sales activities of CBDs, ensuring that ASMO’s products are effectively marketed and sold to clients and community members.
Provide guidance on sales strategies and techniques to maximize product uptake and community impact.
Conduct field visits and observations to assess the quality and effectiveness of CBDs’ home visits and community interactions.
Evaluate the performance of CBDs based on predefined metrics and provide constructive feedback to enhance their effectiveness.
Address any performance issues or concerns promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.
Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on CBD activities, achievements, and challenges to senior management.
Act as a resource for CBDs, offering assistance and advice on best practices for health education and product distribution.
Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment of CBD activities with overall program objectives.
Facilitate communication and collaboration between CBDs and community members to enhance program impact.
Identify opportunities for program improvement based on feedback from CBDs and community members.
Support CBDs in organizing and participating in community meetings and events to promote health messages and ASMO’s products.
Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from recognized university.
Industry Experience A minimum of 4 years of related experience with national or international organizations or private institutions.

Management skills: ability to make plans and manage a team of more than 10 persons
