About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2014 and registered with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well, efficient, transparent, and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has an active presence at least in nine provinces in five regions of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces as well to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support a significant number of people who had been affected by the long protracted and sudden on-set emergencies in Afghanistan. Regardless of the hardest circumstances that existed in Afghanistan in 2022 and 2024, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most parts of the country.

Job Descriptions:

Through a comprehensive community-based approach and the provision of basic general literacy and pre-vocational skills, youth and adults, especially women and adolescent girls who were previously excluded from education and training, will be provided with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values they need to be productive, healthy, and responsible citizens prepared to contribute to the welfare of society and equipped for viable employment in the national Labour market. The Master Trainers will be responsible for the capacity building of BGL teachers/facilitators education personnel, community members, and field-level staff. The role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly. Their specific tasks include:

Job Description:

  • Using the project teacher training package and approaches, build the professional skills of community teachers in subject knowledge, teaching methods, and techniques for the successful delivery of community-based education.
  • Conduct training needs assessment, design, conduct training, and post-training follow-up.
  • Develop training work plans, and training materials (training manuals & handouts).
  • Deliver high-quality training, and workshops to BGL teachers, Provincial Community mobilizers (PCM) District Community mobilizers (DCM), education personnel, and community members.
  • Deliver high-quality pre-service and in-service training for facilitators (teachers)
  • Undertake regular supervision visits and assess the impact of training on the learning and development of project beneficiaries.
  • Identify training gaps/needs, and or areas of improvement - document best practices and lessons learned. 
  • Generate comprehensive training reports and update the training database.
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ learning achievements; assist in the administration of the student learning achievement tests.
  • Provide regular in-classroom support to teachers to support them in practicing the learning gained from the training, create a friendly learning environment for students, and overall teaching quality improvement.
  • Work with community members in identifying non-formal education needs, assuring the community cooperation with the program and their participation in the School Management Shura’s.
  • Conduct awareness-raising meetings at DLM offices, Mosques, and other community centers and inform them of project implementation.
  • Prepare and maintain the teacher supervision, class monitoring, and teacher in-classroom support files; prepare the work plan in consultation with the team.
  • Distribute textbooks and other learning and classroom documentation materials in coordination with the Facilitator and Community Mobilizer to the classes.
  • Establish and maintain productive work relationships and coordinate activities with the MoE provincial/district/hub school officials and staff of other education sector organizations.
  • Any other related task as assigned by the Project Officer and/or Senior Management Team (SMT).

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • At least a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree is preferable
  • Bachelor's degree holder with 5 years of relevant experience and 4 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
  • Experience in a relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Pashto and Dari, skills in English will also be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics, and development.
  • Enough experience in community mobilization, particularly in community participation, conflict resolution, and resource mobilization.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, child development, and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours, and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring and evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan education system/context, education in emergencies (EiE), and child protection (CP)
  • Experience in coordination with government authorities, communities, donors, and beneficiaries

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English is a plus point
