Job Descriptions:

The ideal candidate would be able to:

Regular Responsibilities:

    • Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, diagnoses and treatments for female patients.
    • Manage both acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, including hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias and ischemic heart disease.
    • Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests, including echocardiograms, stress tests, and other cardiac imaging.
    • Prescribe appropriate medications and lifestyle recommendations for the prevention and management of heart disease.
    • Provide guidance on surgical interventions when necessary and liaise with cardiac surgeons.
    • Educate patients and their families on heart health, disease prevention and long-term care plans.
    • Counsel patients on lifestyle changes, diet and medication adherence to reduce cardiovascular risk.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments, including Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Surgery, to provide comprehensive care.
    • Provide consultations for other specialties when cardiovascular expertise is required.
    • Participate in ward rounds and clinical meetings, offering expert advice and second opinions on complex cases.
    • Assure the quality and continuity of care 24/7.
    • Maintain a strong commitment to safeguarding and ethical practice, particularly in handling vulnerable female patients.
    • Ensure patient confidentiality and high standards of medical ethics in all clinical activities.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, in compliance with FMIC and national regulations.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the improvement of clinical protocols and processes.
    • Any other tasks assigned by Head of Department.

Periodic Responsibilities:

  • Participate in cardiovascular health awareness programs aimed at educating the local community, especially women, on heart disease prevention.
  • Engage in Continuous Medical Education by attending/presenting workshops, seminars and conferences related to cardiology.
  • Lead or participate in research projects related to cardiovascular health (in women), contributing to medical publications.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in cardiology and incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical care.
  • Conduct periodic training sessions for junior doctors, nurses, and medical students on cardiology topics, especially focusing on women’s heart health.
  • Mentor upcoming female doctors in cardiology, providing career guidance and professional development support.
  • Participate in regular clinical audits to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of cardiology services.
  • Lead or contribute to quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and streamlining cardiology workflows.
  • Periodically review and help update policies and protocols related to cardiology, ensuring alignment with the latest clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Assist in the development of hospital policies related to women’s cardiovascular health and preventive cardiology programs.
