Job Descriptions:

Job Summary: The main job responsibilities of security officer are for the smooth day to day operations of security unit such as staff movements, managing the work of Security Guards and Drivers and protect staff, property, and assets by patrolling and monitoring the premises, controlling access, responding to incidents, enforcing policies, and maintaining security equipment and records.

Tasks: 

  • Collect information on security situation from sources on daily basis and circulate among all staff and give advisory for risk mitigation.  
  • Follow up restriction of movements, in cases of crisis, until improvement in the security situation.
  • Provide vehicle for staff movement within the city and report on monthly basis on fleet data.
  • Maintain record of all movements of vehicles with departure and arrival timings.
  • Processes visitor requests for access to high security facilities.
  • Prepare the monthly work roster, leave, time sheet of security guards and drivers
  • Issues card key access and office keys to individuals as appropriate.
  • Monitors fire, emergency, smoke alarms and detection panic alarms.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments of offices, Guesthouse and roads.
  • Check for updated first aid kit box, fire extinguishers, safe room materials and security tools. 
  • Schedules security training sessions for security guards, drivers and staff.
  • Maintains database records and hardcopy of files including those used to track safety and security data.
  • Provides clerical and/or accounting support to the unit, as appropriate to the position, including typing and data entry of contributions and billings; receives, records, deposits, and tracks revenues.
  • Prepares and maintains classified documents in either soft and hard copy formats.
  • Establish security clearance on daily basis through enquiring into the situation with police, General directorate of intelligence, local people, local drivers etc.
  • Follow up maintenance of communication tools and equipment through daily check of their functioning.
  • Monitor security guards’ work during nights to enquire about security information through rules and procedures of radio communication system (VHF)
  • Patrolling and Monitoring Premises regularly the assigned areas, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure the security and safety of the premises, personnel, and assets.
  • Surveillance and Monitoring utilize various security systems, such as CCTV cameras, vehicle tracking system and other monitoring equipment, to detect and respond to any suspicious activities or security breaches.
  • Responding to incidents, emergencies, or any security-related issues, and documenting these events in detailed reports for further investigation or record-keeping.
  • Required to maintain detailed logs and records of all security related activities, including patrols, incidents, and visitor logs, Vehicles logbooks to ensure accountability and provide evidence if needed.
  • Monitor the work of drivers during the day through radio communication system and mobile as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure regular monitoring of radio room VHF, HF, all Codans and Thuraya within office and office vehicles.
  • Maintenance of all communications equipment and extended VHF and UHF licenses with ATRA Office of Ministry of Communication and Technology.
  • Supervise the Guards and Drivers to ensure they do their job with adequate quality and in compliance with all safety and security protocols and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by line manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject
  • 4 years of proven experience in the security unit of NGOs or INGOs
  • Knowledge of basic safety and security principles, security framework, radio communication procedures in NGO’s set up.
  • Mutual respect, initiative, result orientation, commitment to consistent quality, calculated risk taking, problem solving.
  • Strategic orientation on safety and security
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
  • Basic understanding of databases
  • Good command of English and local languages both oral and written and customer service skills
  • Great attention to detail
