Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh) is a Swiss child welfare foundation dedicated to assisting and protecting vulnerable populations worldwide. Since 1995, Tdh has been active in Afghanistan, implementing projects related to Child Protection, Access to Justice, Mother and Child Health, and Livelihood Programs in the provinces of Kabul, Herat, and Nangarhar
Under the direct supervision of Tdh Health Program Coordinator, He/She will support the formulation and overall implementation of the health projects/components. The position will be based Kabul office with regular visits to project locations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Support the Health Programme Coordinator in developing proposals for health projects or health components within a wider response.
· Ensure timely submission of internal and external reports in coordination with related units.
· Support the Health Programme Coordinator in ensuring the sound implementation of health projects or health components within a wider response.
·Ensure quality services delivery and support MEAL Unit in identifying and collective quality indicators.
· In close coordination with the Health Program Coordinator follow up on the health projects-related tasks in the relevant ministries.
·Ensure medicine and medical supplies are identified, procured, stored, and dispatched to project locations promptly.
· Per guidance of the Health Programme Coordinator, participate in relevant coordination meetings.
· Act as a focal point for monitoring of referral system from the community to the health facilities.
· Prepare reports, analysis, or mapping of the health context per the direction of the Health Programme Coordinator.
·Translate relevant documents, correspondence, and vice versa English/Dari and interpret conversation when necessary.
· Ensure the delivery of collective health staff time sheets and submit to the HR department to ensure timely payment of staff salaries.
· Responsible for office filing system and documentation.
·Support with the preparation and organization of trainings, workshops, and other events
· Travel to project sites per agreed plan with the Health Coordinator.
Take part in the project assessments.
Child Protection Knowledge and Competencies:
· Has significant experience working in the child protection sector.
· Is able to make considered decisions about how to act to safeguard or promote and recognize signs of abuse and exploitation of children’s welfare.
· Is able to work with children and their families in a range of complex situations addressing issues such as resilience and recovery.
· Promotes and speaks with authority about the principles and approaches to child protection programming.
· Leads team to make existential choices about how best to use the available time and resources to address violations of children’s right to protection.
· Strengthens the linkage between national policies and structures and community-based care and protection mechanisms including traditional mechanisms.
Works effectively and collaboratively with other agencies to pursue common goals in child protection.
Proven experience working in a related field in an international NGO, at least for 3 years,
· A medical degree is essential.
· Fluency in English language and local languages Dari, Pashto
· Computer literacy, including Excel
· Aptitude to work in volatile settings and willingness to visit the field daily
· Excellent knowledge of the region and its cultural aspects
· Excellent networking skills and ability to communicate with various stakeholders
· Capability to take initiative and excellent negotiation skills
