Job Descriptions:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assesses the emotional, behavioral, and social needs of clients to determine the best course of treatment.
  • To Provide individual and group counseling to help clients manage mental health problems and symptoms.
  • To Develop counseling/session plans for both individual and group counseling based on the results of the assessment and analysis of the clients’ situation.
  • To Release clients and groups based on in-depth evaluation of their progress. 
  • To Organize the release sessions of the PM for groups and individual clients.
  • To provide input to support the continuous improvement of the MHPSS services provided by WJO.
  • To conduct raising awareness campaign on psycosocial symtopms and stressors.
  • Provision of psychological assessment letters for clients referred by WJO networking partners based on an in-depth evaluation of the client’s situation.
  • Ensure complete discharge, referral, and feedback procedures for patients.
  • Ensure complete daily documentation of patient case notes/files

Referral Pathways

  • Assessing and Identification of client requires in-bed psychological treatment.
  • Referring clients to the professional centers and hospitals.
  • Conduct follow up sessions with the referred clients.
  • The counselor may work with other MHPSS professionals, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to access clients and provide services.

Maintenance of Documentation

  • Filling up the standard formats (Client Information Forms).
  • Protecting clients records and data.
  • Maintaining and observing client's confidentilaity.
  • Narrating human-interest case stories on a regular basis according to the schedule provided by the PM based on the standard guideline.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reports to donors and secterial departments.=
  • Processing and Following project related documents and reports in Nangarhar.

Provision of training for capacity building on counseling skills

  • Development of the training modules in collaboration with the other counselors and provision of input content-wise.
  • Facilitation of the trainings/workshops.
  • Participating in the capacity building trainings and workshops.
  • Any other duties assigned by line supervisor and WJO Management.

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor's dgree in Psychology and cerified counselor by MoPH

- At least 3-4 years of exprience in psychosocial counseling and MHPSS services  

- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- Trustworthy and compassionate character.

- Attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality

- English, Dari, and Pashtu speaking /writing skills

- Local residence from Nangarhar Province

- Preference will be given to local residence applicants

- Observing professionalism and medical ethic at the workplace in relation to clients and health care staff.
