Job Descriptions:

  1. Supervision and Care:
    • Provide direct supervision and care for children in the child-minding space, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
    • Monitor children’s behaviour, manage conflicts, and provide guidance to ensure positive social interactions.
  2. Engagement and Activities:
    • Plan, organize, and facilitate age-appropriate play, educational, and recreational activities to support children’s developmental needs.
    • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes children’s physical, emotional, and social development.
  3. Child Protection:
    • Ensure that all children in the space are protected from any form of harm, abuse, or neglect.
    • Be vigilant in observing signs of distress or trauma in children and report concerns to the relevant authorities.
    • Follow all child protection policies and procedures established by the organization.
  4. Emotional and Psychosocial Support:
    • Offer emotional support to children who may be dealing with stress, trauma, or displacement.
    • Provide a sense of normalcy through routine and structure, and facilitate activities that help children express emotions in a safe space.
  5. Coordination and Communication:
    • Regularly communicate with parents or guardians to update them on the child’s activities and well-being.
  6. Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records related to children’s attendance, behaviour, and any incidents or concerns observed during care.
    • Report any incidents, concerns, or observations related to child safety or well-being to the appropriate authority within the organization.
  7. Health and Safety:
    • Ensure the child-minding space meets the required health and safety standards, including clean and safe play areas.
    • Be prepared to administer first aid in case of minor injuries, following organizational protocols.
  8. Capacity Building:
    • Participate in training sessions on child protection, child development, first aid, and other relevant topics.
    • Stay informed on best practices in child care, especially in emergency or vulnerable contexts.

Job Requirements:

  • A degree or relevant certification in early childhood education, child development, social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to handle various situations with a calm demeanor.
  • 3 Years of working experience in relevant field
  • Proven experience in working with children
  • Preferably in a child care or educational setting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
