About Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO):

YHDO is a non-governmental and non-for-profit organization established in 2009, registered with ministry of economy in Afghanistan. YHDO works with interdisciplinary professionals to develop and implement innovative, culturally appropriate, evidence based interventions.

Job Descriptions:

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual action plans.
  2. Performs assessment and counselling services to children, utilizing appropriate protocols and guidelines.
  3. Elicits trauma related histories according to presenting symptoms.
  4. Provide counseling for children victims of human rights violation.
  5. Assist in developing IEC materials regarding children’s mental wellbeing.
  6. Conduct a regular follow up of cases registered.
  7. Providing trauma-informed Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to VoTiP, utilizing victim-centric approaches to address complex trauma and deliver first aid and support as needed.
  8. Provide individual and/or group counselling session according to the standard procedures.
  9. Organize training session on stress management and other related issues for shelter staff
  10. Keep daily record in a confidential and safe manner.
  11. Performs all clinical tasks following established policies and protocols.
  12. Counsels’ patients’ family/caretakers if needed.
  13. Referral of patients to external structures, if needed and agreed with YHDO management
  14. Ensure high quality of psychosocial services within the shelter.
  15. Identify and immediately resolve any issues affecting service delivery or program objectives, and report to the line supervisor.
  16. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports for the direct supervisor.
  17. Perform other related tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  1. University degree in social services, law, or psychology.
  2. University degree in Psychology or Social Services.
  3. Experience working on human rights and access to justice related projects, ideally with children (2 year minimum).
  4. Good knowledge of children’s rights and the child protection sector.
  5. Excellent knowledge about children’s mental health and child psychology.
  6. Strong success story and report writing skills.
  7. Excellent oral and writing skills in Pashto, Dari and English language.
  8. Able to work late hours and on irregular schedule if required.
