BRAC is a nongovernmental development organization originated in Bangladesh and currently working in 10 countries in Asia and Africa. BRAC began its operation in Afghanistan in 2002, has been implementing its development programs in education, health, citizens’ charter Afghanistan programme as well as capacity development in the country.
1. Program Design & Implementation:
Identify the gaps in agriculture sector and development of skilled labor force for the sector, enhancement of practical knowledge and skills, enabling graduates to provide better services on the farm
Develop and implement strategies to integrate youth into sustainable agriculture and livelihood programmes.
Work closely with local stakeholders, including government, community leaders, and private sector partners,to design and roll out agricultural livelihood interventions.
Coordinate with other technical teams (e.g., education, youth development, gender) to ensure the holistic integration of agriculture and livelihood support within AIYA's broader objectives.
2. Capacity Building:
Provide training and technical support to youth, local farmers, cooperatives, and community groups on modern agricultural practices, climate smart techniques, and entrepreneurship.
Build the capacity for youth and create opportunities to access vocational training in technical and business skills related to agriculture.
3. Market Linkages & Livelihood Development:
Facilitate the development of market linkages for youth-led agricultural enterprises, ensuring sustainability and profitability.
Support the design and implementation of income-generating activities (IGAs) for youth, particularly those from vulnerable groups
Support business development by enabling access to resources, grants and technical support.
Identify the private sectors and their requirement and then skills development of the youth as per requirement
4. Monitoring & Evaluation:
Collaborate with M&E team to track the progress and impact of agriculture and livelihood interventions.
Analyze data collected by M&E focal and use them to improve effectiveness of programme.
5. Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement:
Establish and maintain relationships with local NGOs, community based organizations (CBOs), and private sector partners to leverage resources and opportunities for youth empowerment..
Advocate for policies that support promote youth engagement in agriculture and rural development.
6. Gender & Social Inclusion:
Ensure that agriculture and livelihood activities are designed and implemented with gender equity and social inclusion in mind, promoting equal opportunities for both young men and women.
Promote participation of marginalized groups, including youth from remote areas and those with disabilities, into agricultural programmes.
7. Reporting & Communication:
Prepare and submit regular reports on the status of agricultural programs, including progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvements.
Ensure clear communication with project leadership, and other stakeholders on programme updates, results, and impacts
8. Safeguarding
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation.
Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
9. Any other tasks assigned by supervisor
• Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, market systems and rural livelihoods.
• Knowledge of climate smart agriculture and sustainable land management.
• Excellent facilitation, training, communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in English, Pashto and Dari, both written and spoken
• Familiar with report writing and planning
• Honest, proactive, and well mannered.
• Experience of working in teams and coordinating with project/programme personnel located in provinces and Districts
• Must be a team player with initiative and demonstrated ability to work in a challenging work environment;
• Strong work ethic and the ability to interact well with stakeholders at various levels
