BRAC began its operation in Afghanistan in 2002, has been implementing its development programs in education, health, citizens’ charter Afghanistan programme as well as capacity development in the country.

Job Descriptions:

1. Program Implementation:

Support the programme implementation of agriculture and livelihoods programs targeted at youth, particularly young women, in the assigned province.
Support to develop and deliver training on agricultural best practices, income-generating activities, and sustainable farming techniques, ensuring relevance to local contexts and needs.
Assist in identifying and implementing agricultural value chain opportunities that align with local market demands and enhance youth economic opportunities.
Provide technical support in agricultural development activities and other relevant areas that can improve livelihood outcomes for youth.
2. Livelihoods Development and Capacity Building:

Work with youth groups, local communities, and agricultural organizations by support of provincial team to create viable livelihoods and employment opportunities through agriculture.
Assist to organize capacity-building workshops and training sessions for youth in areas of agribusiness, sustainable farming practices, value addition, and market linkages in collaboration with the Capacity building Officer
Collaborate with local agricultural extension services, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance training content and program delivery.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

Monitor the progress and impact of agriculture and livelihoods programs, ensuring that they meet the project’s objectives, timelines, and performance targets by support of M&E Dept
Assist in collecting data for monitoring and evaluation (M&E), including tracking the outcomes of agriculture-based livelihood activities, income generation, and youth employment.
Assist to prepare regular reports on program activities, achievements, and challenges for submission to the Provincial Manager.
4. Market Linkages and Partnerships:

Facilitate partnerships between youth groups, local agricultural producers, and private sector actors to create market linkages.
Work closely with local businesses and cooperatives to identify opportunities for entrepreneurship, employment, and internships for youth.
Identify the private sectors and their requirement in the relevant province and youth capacity development accordingly 
5. Youth Empowerment and Gender Integration:

Ensure that agriculture and livelihoods programmes are inclusive, with a special focus on empowering young women and marginalized youth through agriculture-based opportunities.
Promote gender-sensitive approaches to livelihood programs, ensuring that young women and men have equal access to training, resources, and opportunities.
Support youth in accessing agricultural finance opportunities, including savings groups, loans, and grants, to help them establish or expand agricultural enterprises.
6. Community Engagement and Outreach:

Engage with local communities and leaders to build awareness about the benefits of agriculture and livelihood programs, encouraging youth participation.
Facilitate community-led initiatives that promote agricultural sustainability, youth inclusion, and entrepreneurship.
Support the establishment of community-based agricultural networks and youth groups focused on knowledge sharing, peer learning, and collaboration.
7. Coordination with Other Project Components:

Work closely with other team members (e.g., TVET specialists, vocational training officers) to ensure that agriculture-based livelihoods activities are integrated with broader project components such as youth education, skill development, and job readiness programs.
Coordinate with the Provincial Manager and other team members to ensure the alignment of agriculture and livelihoods interventions with project goals, monitoring systems, and reporting requirements.
8. Safeguarding

Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge of agricultural practices, value chains, and rural development strategies.
  • Experience in conducting training and capacity-building workshops for youth and community members on agricultural topics.
  • Knowledge of gender integration and inclusive programming, particularly in the context of agriculture and livelihoods.
  • Proven ability to engage with local stakeholders, build partnerships, and identify sustainable livelihood opportunities for youth.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Fluency in English, Dari and Pashto (written and spoken)
