About Concern Worldwide- Afghanistan:

Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern has been working in Afghanistan since 1998, when it responded to an earthquake disaster in Takhar province. Currently Concern is working in Takhar and Badakhshan provinces undertaking both emergency response and long term developmental work in the areas of agriculture, livelihood security, education and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Concern is expanding its programming into nutrition this year. 

Job Descriptions:

Main duty and responsibility:

Data Management and Monitoring:

  • Develop and implement data collection tools for health and nutrition programmes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and analysis of programme data.
  • Monitor project progress and facilitate data collection from field offices.
  • Conduct regular evaluations to measure programme outcomes and service quality.
  • Focus on the M&E plan for the IA-LTD project, tracking indicators through regular visits.

Capacity Building and Data Quality Assurance:

  • Provide training and technical support to staff on data management and MEAL best practices.
  • Monitor and assess data quality to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Support staff in using data collection tools and promote data-driven decision-making.
  • Validate data sources to ensure reliability and accuracy.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Compile and submit regular progress reports on project activities.
  • Document case studies, success stories, and learning outcomes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of performance reports

Coordination and Flexibility:

  • Coordinate with the MEAL Manager to be assigned to other projects as needed.
  • Ensure flexibility and adaptability in supporting various health and nutrition initiatives.

Feedback and Complaint Response Mechanism (FCRM)

  • Operate the FCRM Hotline when the accountability officer if needed.
  • Manage the onsite FCRM during large distributions if needed.
  • Record all complaints and feedback information to programme staff if needed.
  • Follow up with programme managers or other relevant staff regarding complaints and feedback, ensuring cases are closed in a timely manner.
  • Carry out quarterly briefing sessions with all PMs, PD, and other key staff concerning major themes in information coming through the FCRM.
  • Conduct capacity building for staff regarding FCRM and act as the focal point for staff questions regarding FCRM.
  • Ensure all projects conduct FCRM sensitization and lead this sensitization among project beneficiaries.

Support and Emergency Response:

  • Accompany and support the MEAL team in surveys and studies, when necessary, especially when access to female beneficiaries requires female staff.
  • Provide full support in relation to emergencies when directed by the MEAL Manger, in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond.
  • Assist in the translation of new MEAL tools, guidelines, and text documents.

Emergency/ CHS (Core Humanitarian Standards):

  • Concern is committed to CHS to ensure downward accountability. CHS standards guide Concern activities in all stages both emergency and development projects /programs. In Afghanistan, we also bounded our activities by Accountability framework and therefore any Afghanistan employees is responsible to comply with CHS principles and benchmarks as instructed by its policies and therefore make sure that all accept and implement CHS standards in all our activities.
  • To give full support in relation to emergencies/ humanitarian operations when occurring in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond. This can include but is not limited to participation in the Concern Afghanistan Rapid Deployment Unit (CARDU) and deployment on emergency response teams.

Job Requirements:

Qualification & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, MD, or another related field

Work Experience:

  • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience (Health and Nutrition M&E)
  • Competence in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups or individuals.
  • Experience working within data management policies.
  • Experience working under conditions of confidentiality.
  • Desirable: Experience working with dashboards to visualize data.
  • Desirable: Experience working in a Health and nutrition-related role.

Skills:

  • Familiarity with digital data gathering tools such as ODK or Kobo.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Strong skills in database management.
  • Fluency in English (spoken, written, and understanding).
  • Strong data interpretation skills.
  • Strong report writing skills in English.
