About TLO:

The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Herat, Ghazni, Farah, Samangan, Balkh, Nangarhar, Maidan wardak and Baghlan and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.

Job Descriptions:

Background

This project aims to enhance the economic empowerment of women by equipping them with embroidery skills for income generation and improved livelihoods. Over a two-month period, 20 selected women from marginalized backgrounds will receive comprehensive, hands-on embroidery training, along with sessions on business development, marketing, and financial management.

Objectives of the Assignment

The Embroidery Trainer will:

  • Deliver high-quality, comprehensive embroidery training to 20 women participants.
  • Provide individual support and hands-on practice to ensure skill mastery.
  • Equip participants with both technical and entrepreneurial skills to enable them to start or enhance income-generating embroidery businesses.

Scope of Work

The Embroidery Trainer will be responsible for:

  • Designing a structured, two-month training curriculum on various embroidery techniques and styles.
  • Delivering in-person training sessions with practical and theoretical components.
  • Providing one-on-one coaching as needed to ensure effective learning.
  • Conducting sessions on business development, marketing strategies, and basic financial literacy.
  • Assessing participant progress and providing feedback for improvement.
  • Coordinating with the project team to ensure smooth delivery of training.

Deliverables

  • Two-month embroidery training program successfully implemented.
  • Training schedule and curriculum shared with project staff.
  • Regular attendance and progress tracking of participants.

Final training report including key outcomes, participant feedback, and recommendations for future activities.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in embroidery (multiple techniques and styles).
  • Experience in vocational training, especially with women from marginalized backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with small business development and microenterprise principles.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Patience and commitment to women's empowerment and community development.

 Reporting Line

The Embroidery Trainer will report directly to the Project Manager and coordinate closely with the field team.

Timeframe

The training will run for two months with sessions scheduled in coordination with the project team. A final report must be submitted at the conclusion of the training period.
