About OCHR (Organization for Coordination of Humanitarian Relief):

OCHR is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization implementing relief, stabilization, and development programs across Afghanistan. OCHR’s primary advocacy and existence is based on reducing the suffering of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable groups and providing the tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency, focusing on addressing the needs of communities emerging from conflict or natural disaster. OCHR collaborates with a wide range of partners and donors, local organizations, and many others to deliver sustainable services aligned with SDGs and UN triple nexus i.e. to interlink humanitarian, development, and peace.

OCHR program planning and theory of change mainly focus to achieve A-SDGs i.e. its institutional setup and policy documents is founded to recognize and interlink sustainable development and relevant ongoing processes.

Since its establishment, throughout the years OCHR has developed an integrated strategic approach, which addresses the needs of vulnerable people living both in humanitarian and development settings. OCHR's key programmatic and strategic priorities in Afghanistan are;

  • Education.
  • Health.
  • Food Security through agricultural development and livestock.
  • Water Sanitation and Hygiene-WASH.
  • Peace, justice and social development through public awareness and human rights, promoting right-based approaches.
  • Clean energy and environment.

OCHR differ widely in its program planning and strategies—contributing in long-term interventions concerning humanitarian response and sustainable development, and specifically focuses on the ultra-poor communities of Afghanistan enabling them to develop sustainable livelihood through microfinance and re-integration into society.

Job Descriptions:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of rapid needs assessments, including household-level interviews and facilitation of focus group discussions.

  • Conduct assessments and registrations for all hygiene promotion-related interventions.

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to design, plan, implement, and monitor hygiene promotion activities in the targeted areas.

  • Facilitate hygiene promotion trainings using standardized materials developed by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) and Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

  • Develop and coordinate weekly and monthly work plans for hygiene promotion activities.

  • Participate in the selection, design, pre-testing, development, dissemination, and evaluation of appropriate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to ensure effective hygiene promotion.

  • Ensure that gender, protection, cultural sensitivities, and other cross-cutting issues are fully considered and integrated into program implementation and reporting.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including hard copies of hygiene promotion activity records and accurate digital records.

  • Promote community mobilization and engagement in all project-related field activities.

  • Prepare and submit weekly written reports to the line manager, and provide verbal updates as required.

  • Develop session plans and prepare detailed training reports for all hygiene promotion training sessions.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of 12th grade or possession of a Higher Secondary School Certificate

  • In consideration of the local context and current circumstances within the country, OCHR gives preference to locally-based couples for this position

  • Demonstrated experience in community mobilization, monitoring, and reporting

  • Proficiency in written and spoken local languages

  • Prior experience in a similar role

  • Hands-on experience in implementing community-based projects

  • Previous work experience with national or international organizations

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

  • Culturally aware and sensitive to conflict dynamics
