ActionAid is a non-governmental & non-profit international organization working towards achieving a world without poverty and injustice in more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
ActionAid started its activities in Afghanistan in 2002 and was registered in Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan as non-governmental international organization “INGO”.
ActionAid-Afghanistan committed itself a long-term work with poor and excluded sections of the society through the Human Rights Based Development Approach, WASH, and livelihood programs in multiple provinces of Afghanistan.
Role Summary:
Afghanistan faces severe climate vulnerability due to a combination of environmental and socio-political factors. Recurring climate-induced disasters, particularly droughts and floods, have significantly undermined food security and rural livelihoods. Projections point to a future with rising temperatures, declining rainfall, and more frequent extreme weather events. These impacts are compounded by decades of conflict, which have weakened the population's adaptive capacity. The influx of returnees from Pakistan and nowadays from Iran has, and will continue to have further strained natural resources, intensifying conflicts over land and water access and deepening existing social divides.
The Afghanistan rural economy suffers from limited income-generating opportunities due to poor access to markets, credit, and value-chain infrastructure such as storage and processing facilities. Women and girls are disproportionately affected by climate shocks due to systemic barriers and ban to economic participation, leading to greater household vulnerability. A comprehensive and long-term resilience strategy is urgently needed to address the structural causes of vulnerability, strengthen agribusiness systems, and reduce dependence on emergency assistance
Under the supervision of Project Manager the Agro Business Coordinator is responsible for the project agro business technical support to AAA’s work on PREVALE Program ensuring effective implementation of agro business activities and achieve its results which aim to provide alternative sources of incomes and livelihoods to the communities that have been severely affected by the recent disasters and other economic shocks and contributes to the overall vision of achieving AAA country strategy.Thi position will play a key role in advancing market-oriented, inclusive, and climate-resilient agribusiness solutions for at-risk communities
