Job Descriptions:

Design and implement the internship and job-placement pathway for ASTA graduates (English, Computer, GLTTA), secure paid internships/teaching placements in the community, support employer engagement, and track graduate performance and employment outcomes. This role bridges training completion and practical employment for graduates, supporting the project goal of creating pathways to teaching and livelihood opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement an employer engagement and placement plan for the paid internship component (Mar–May 2026), targeting local schools, community institutions, small businesses, NGOs and local service providers.
  • Map local labor/placement opportunities in target provinces/districts; build and maintain relationships with potential host organizations and community employers.
  • Match graduates to appropriate internships/placements based on skills, interests and learning track (English, Computer, GLTTA).
  • Prepare graduates for workplace placement: deliver career orientation, CV preparation, basic interview skills, workplace conduct, and on-the-job coaching.
  • Draft and manage internship agreements / Memoranda of Understanding with host organizations, ensure clear roles, responsibilities, duration and compensation (paid internships).
  • Monitor intern performance and host satisfaction through regular check-ins, performance assessments and final evaluations; provide remedial support and mediation where needed.
  • Track and report placement metrics (number placed, retention, performance scores, host feedback) and feed into monitoring & evaluation.
  • Coordinate with the M&E officer to collect baseline/endline and internship performance data; contribute to lessons learned and final reporting.
  • Promote safe working conditions and ensure hosts understand safeguarding, code of conduct and child protection obligations for interns.
  • Create an employer database and placement tracker (including payment arrangements, contact details, sector, capacity to host).
  • Run placement orientation sessions and mock interviews for graduates.
  • Conduct three rounds of monitoring visits per internship (start, midline, endline) and provide written summaries.

Support conversion of internships to longer-term employment where possible.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Education, Humanitarian Studies or related field. (Relevant diploma + strong field experience may be accepted.)
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in community mobilization, beneficiary-facing roles, access/field coordination in humanitarian or development programs (education preferred).
  • Experience working with women/girls’ programming and navigating cultural access constraints is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; culturally sensitive and able to engage elders, community leaders and families.
  • Strong organization, documentation and basic data-collection skills (attendance registers, simple reporting).
  • Good spoken and written Dari and/or Pashto; working knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding, child protection principles and basic MHPSS awareness.
  • Prior experience in Afghanistan or similar context and knowledge of local community structures.
