Job Descriptions:

 

Main responsibilities for this position:

  • Design of Social Behaviour Change (SBC) activities for health and hygiene promotion.
  • Facilitate meaningful community engagement.
  • Community mobilisation.
  • Trust building between community and NCA.
  • Maintain good relations with right holders and stakeholders.

Project Management and Delivery:

  • Play key inputs role in design of Social Behavior Change (SBC) activities for health and hygiene promotion.
  • Play key role in design and development of SBC and hygiene promotion advocacy material such as banners, flipcharts, broachers, leaflets, training manuals and training presentations.
  • Develop hygiene promotion activities schedule in close coordination with humanitarian coordinator.
  • Preparing the plan of hygiene kits distribution to the targeted families.
  • Managing the hygiene kits distribution event in close coordination with the Humanitarian coordinator and other key stakeholders.
  • Play a key role in conflict resolution among the different elements involved in project implementation.
  • Conduct right holders selection assessment and baseline (Pre-KAP and Post-KAP) assessment using KoBo or ODK devices.
  • Organize health and hygiene promotion awareness sessions for different age and gender groups of the community members.
  • Organize printing, using and distribution of hygiene promotion advocacy material during hygiene promotion activities.
  • Play key role in implementation of SBC activities related to health and hygiene promotion.
  • In case of need organize ToT for newly joining hygiene promoters.
  • Sharing project related information and distribution of advocacy material during the hygiene promotion events.
  • Any other official task assigned by the humanitarian coordinator.

1. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Delivering hygiene promotion sessions to returnee and host communities, with a focus on safe water, sanitation, and personal hygiene practices.
  • Supporting the organization and monitoring of hygiene kit distributions, ensuring fair access and proper usage guidance.
  • Coordinating with local authorities, community leaders, and health actors for effective dissemination of hygiene messages and promotional materials.
  • Engaging communities in the identification and verification of vulnerable households eligible for cash and non-cash assistance.
  • Building trust and maintaining two-way communication between communities and the project team to ensure inclusive participation
  • Collecting community feedback on hygiene and cash interventions and sharing it with the project team for continuous improvement.
  • Supporting post-distribution monitoring to assess the effectiveness of hygiene promotion and cash-based assistance.
  • Preparing regular activity reports and contributing to lessons learned and best practices.

Technical Support

  • Responsible for planning, designing and delivering of hygiene promotion trianings.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and awareness sessions with returnee and host communities to inform them about cash assistance processes, eligibility criteria, and grievance redress mechanisms.
  • Support the targeting, registration, and verification of eligible households through field visits, community consultations, and coordination with local leaders to ensure transparency and inclusion.
  • Assist in organizing and monitoring cash disbursement activities, provide guidance to beneficiaries on safe use of cash, and collect feedback to ensure accountability and address community concerns.
  • Facilitate in organizing focused group discussions (FGD), informant interviews (II) and key informant interviews (KII) as required as well as ensuring usage of standard check-lists during monitoring visits.

Monitoring:

  • Hygiene promoters should visit project sites and communities to observe firsthand the hygiene practices of individuals, the condition of sanitation facilities, and the availability of clean water sources.
  • Hygiene promoters are responsible for collecting data on key hygiene indicators, such as handwashing rates, toilet usage, and knowledge of hygiene practices. They should also gather feedback from community members on the effectiveness of hygiene promotion activities.
  • Hygiene promoters need to document their monitoring findings, including successes, challenges, and areas for improvement. They should prepare regular reports to share with humanitarian program coordinator.
  • Providing feedback and recommendations.

Reporting and Communication

  • The Hygiene promoter will report the hygiene promotion activities on weekly basses and ensure that information, data, challenges and lesson learn reflected in the reports.
  • Hygiene promoters will communicate the findings of their reports to relevant stakeholders, such as program coordinator, WAHS cluster and funding agencies. He/She may also share success stories and best practices to promote learning and replication of effective hygiene promotion strategies.
  • Hygiene promoters maintain accurate records of their activities, including data collection tools, reports, right holder’s lists and communication with stakeholders.
  • Prepare regular reports on project effectiveness and share recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare daily and weekly plans and reports.
  • Alert any gaps in process, tools, or staff capacities to meet the project needs.
  • Perform of any other tasks as assigned which are within the scope of the project.

OTHER DUTIES / FUNCTIONS ASSIGNED TO THE POSITION:

  • Contribute to developing an organizational culture that reflects NCA’s mission, vision and core values, promotes accountability and high-quality performance; encourages a culture of learning, creativity and innovation.
  • Support the Humanitarian Programme Team in the effective implementation of all Humanitarian  Projects, ensure timely follow-up of project activities, and support implementing partners during project implementation.
  • Take up other tasks that may be assigned by the line manager or by management to support organisational goals and needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor or institute level education degree in health, medical science, Law, Sharia, Science or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience from similar positions. At least three years of experience in the area of CVA, CBI and emergency projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate experience in provision of hygiene promotion training.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing CBI/CVA.
  • Experience in survey and implementing NFI distribution steps and community engagement projects and conducting training in hygiene promotion
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing emergency shelter, NFI and CVA with International NGOs.
  • Having experience in delivering hygiene promotion trainings sessions. 
  • Excellent report writing skills and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Good strategic planning abilities
  • Good time management and organizational skills
