Job Description:

Rupani Foundation Afghanistan, in partnership with UNWFP, is implementing vocational training programs in Renewable Energy to promote sustainable livelihoods and income generation. With Afghanistan’s growing demand for clean and affordable energy, especially solar power, the program equips youth with practical skills in solar system design, installation, and maintenance. The Renewable Energy Trainer will provide hands-on training focused on solar panel installation, charge controllers, batteries, inverters, cabling, safety, system balancing, and maintenance.

General Responsibilities:

The Trainer will provide structured and practical training sessions tailored to participants’ learning needs. He will prepare detailed training schedules and lesson plans, monitor trainee progress, and ensure both safety and quality in training. The Trainer will also mentor participants to pursue employment or small business opportunities after completing the training.

Specific Duties:

  • Prepare a detailed monthly and daily training plan and deliver training accordingly.
  • Deliver comprehensive, hands-on training in renewable energy systems, particularly solar energy.
  • Teach installation, operation, and maintenance of solar panels, charge controllers, batteries, inverters, and cables.
  • Explain safety standards and good practices in renewable energy work.
  • Prepare and submit a list of required tools and training materials.
  • Continuously monitor and assess trainee progress through practical evaluations.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to the project team.
  • Foster discipline, creativity, and attention to detail to ensure participants acquire employable skills.
  • Guide participants in designing, installing, and maintaining complete PV systems.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive training environment.
  • Develop and update lesson plans, training materials, and attendance records.
  • Actively participate in project meetings, coordination sessions, and related activities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of a diploma or certification in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of practical experience in solar system installation and maintenance.
  • Prior experience as a vocational trainer or technical instructor is highly desirable.

Other Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of renewable energy systems, especially solar PV.
  • Proficiency in using renewable energy tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to prepare training plans and reports.
  • Effective teaching, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work with both literate and low-literacy participants.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto; English is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
