Job Descriptions:

General Duties

  • Ensure non-disclosure of any information whatsoever about practices and IRC activities to any other person or organization without permission, except in the normal performance of the service.
  • Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs.

Specific Duties:

Clinic Service delivery

  • Provide direct clinical care, working closely with other mobile team staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive primary healthcare services.
  • Conduct triage, screening, and assessment of patients in line with established protocols (including COVID-19 measures).
  • Administer inpatient and outpatient treatments, ensuring medications are provided as prescribed by the Medical Doctor.
  • Deliver hygiene promotion, health education, and patient/caregiver counseling on disease prevention, treatment adherence, and healthy practices.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and always control (IPC) measures.
  • Provide basic trauma support, first aid, dressing, and wound care, including stabilization of patients prior to referral when necessary.
  • Support immunization activities and assist in the implementation of disease prevention campaigns as required.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential recording of patient information in clinic registers and complete summary reports for submission.
  • Ensure mobile clinic areas are appropriately stocked with essential equipment, medications, and supplies, and promptly report shortages or gaps.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth service delivery and patient-centered care.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and provide guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
  • Provide nursing support and mentorship to other mobile clinic staff, providing on-the-job training where needed.

Project Management

  • Plan and implement outreach activities with the rest of the team to access vulnerable clients to increase service utilization.
  • Work with and support community volunteers to provide health promotion, community mobilization and awareness raising.
  • Ensure regular inventory and consumption tracking of medical drugs and supplies.
  • Work with relevant staff to ensure prompt requesting of medical drugs and supplies.

Coordination and Representation

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local communities, local government agencies and other implementing partners.
  • Hold meetings with local communities and represent the program in local stakeholder meetings.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensure all patient consultations are documented and patient records completed.
  • Submit reports in a timely manner.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Nurse with a nursing diploma from a recognized medical university registered with local Ministry of Health
  • At least 2 years clinical nursing experience in primary health care
  • Previous experience and training in sexual gender-based violence and clinical care for sexual assault survivors (desirable)
  • Skills to provide sensitive and appropriate medical counseling.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying patience, compassion and diplomacy.
  • Ability to be innovative, flexible, adaptive, and willingness to work out of hours, sometimes throughout the night.
  • Ability to live in challenging conditions and ability to work under difficult, high-pressure situations.   
  •  Ability to lead, train, supervise and facilitate other nursing staff and community health workers in their respective tasks.
  • Ability and flexibility to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with the local health representatives.
  • Ability to live in challenging conditions and ability to work under difficult, high pressure situations.  
  • Fluency in English, Pashto/Dari
  • Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet)
  • Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
