Humanity Health Matters Organization (HHMO) is a national, independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization headquartered in Kabul. HHMO works to enhance public health, WASH, livelihoods, education, and protection through community-driven, inclusive, and sustainable humanitarian interventions.
Operating across multiple provinces, HHMO partners with UN agencies, international NGOs, and donors to address urgent humanitarian needs while strengthening local resilience and empowerment — particularly for women and youth.

Purpose of the Position:

The Program Intern will assist the Program and MEAL teams in the day-to-day support of ongoing humanitarian and development projects. This internship aims to provide a learning opportunity for fresh graduates and young professionals who are eager to gain hands-on experience in program management, monitoring, reporting, and communication in an NGO setting.

The intern will work under close supervision and receive guidance throughout the internship to develop essential technical and soft skills for a future humanitarian career

Program Support:

• Assist in organizing and compiling activity updates, field data, and progress information from project teams.
• Support the preparation of weekly and monthly progress summaries for internal meetings.
• Help maintain simple trackers, checklists, and data records of program activities.
• Participate in coordination and planning meetings and prepare brief meeting notes.
• Provide logistical and documentation support during training sessions, workshops, or community activities when required.

Monitoring and Learning Support (MEAL):

• Assist the MEAL team in data entry and basic compilation of monitoring forms and reports.
• Support in summarizing beneficiary feedback or post-activity observations.
• Help prepare charts or simple visuals (in Excel or Word) to support reporting.
• Accompany field teams for monitoring or documentation visits when possible.

Reporting, Documentation, and Visibility:

• Support the Program Officer in drafting short activity summaries, case studies, and success stories.
• Assist in collecting photos, quotes, and participant lists from project sites for reports.
• Help ensure that reports and documents follow HHMO’s visibility and branding standards.
• Assist in preparing PowerPoint slides or brief presentations for internal sharing or donor updates.
• Maintain organized electronic folders of project documents and visibility materials.

Learning and Professional Growth:

• Participate in on-the-job learning, mentoring sessions, and internal orientations conducted by HHMO.
• Gain exposure to humanitarian coordination, project planning, and reporting systems.
• Learn about donor visibility, communication standards, and program documentation.
• Actively seek feedback and contribute ideas to improve work processes.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the internship, the intern will:

• Understand the basics of NGO program management and coordination.
• Gain practical experience in reporting, documentation, and visibility work.
• Learn how data and reports support decision-making and donor communication.
• Improve written and verbal communication skills in professional settings.
• Build confidence and professional references for future employment opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Business Administration, or any related field.
• Candidates from diverse academic backgrounds passionate about humanitarian work are encouraged to apply.

Experience:

• No prior professional experience is required; previous volunteering, university projects, or internships are considered an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

• Good communication skills in English, Dari, and Pashto.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Interest in humanitarian, development, or social work.
• Responsible, eager to learn, and able to follow instructions.
• Team player with a positive attitude and adaptability.

Duration and Benefits:

• Duration: 3 months (possible short extension).
• Monthly stipend as per HHMO’s internship policy.
• Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of internship.

Reporting and Supervision:

The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Program Officer and will receive guidance from the Head of Programs and MEAL Team. Regular feedback sessions will be conducted to support the intern’s learning and professional development.
