Organization for humanitarian Assistance (OHA), established in the year 12. January. 1994 is an Afghan, non-profit, non-governmental and non- political organization, cooperative partner of UN and other international organizations implementing developmental and humanitarian projects in the southern region of Afghanistan. OHA strives to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) while strictly adhering the humanitarian principles, and key elements of good governance; participation, transparency and accountability. The intention is to alleviate sever suffering, spread awareness, enable people to become self-employed and self-dependent at village, district and city levels for boosting rural and urban economy and livelihood in consultation with donors and local communities.

Our areas of work include; irrigation (canals, culverts, bridges, flood protection), education (schools, literacy, awareness campaigns), road (structure and construction), capacity building (management training, vocational training), drinking water (drilling wells and extending water supply), health system (construction of infrastructure), provision of humanitarian assistance during natural and human made disasters.

Job Purpose:

The Peace Educator is responsible for delivering community-based peace education, conflict-resolution training, awareness sessions, and social cohesion activities within the TDH Resilience Project in Nimroz. The role focuses on strengthening peaceful community relations, reducing local tensions, and enhancing resilience by teaching non-violent communication, problem-solving, and positive engagement—especially among youth, women, and vulnerable households.

The Peace Educator works closely with community leaders, local shuras, schools, youth groups, and households to promote a culture of peace and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct participatory peace education sessions in villages, schools, and community spaces.
• Deliver training on conflict resolution, mediation, non-violent communication, tolerance, and mutual respect.
• Facilitate awareness sessions on the importance of social cohesion, cooperation, and community solidarity.
• Promote positive coping mechanisms, emotional resilience, and peaceful problem-solving.

• Support the establishment and strengthening of community peace groups, youth clubs, and women dialogue groups.
• Facilitate community discussions, dialogue circles, and conflict-sensitive workshops.
• Encourage collaboration between different community groups to address shared challenges.
• Assist in organizing community events, peace days, cultural activities, and joint initiatives that build unity.

• Identify conflict risks, tensions, or disputes within communities and inform project management.
• Support safe, confidential, and appropriate referrals to relevant structures or project teams.
• Promote Do-No-Harm principles and conflict-sensitive approaches in all project activities.

• Train teachers, youth leaders, and community volunteers on peace education tools and facilitation techniques.
• Develop simple and culturally relevant learning materials and activities (stories, group exercises, role-plays).
• Provide ongoing mentoring to community peace leaders and support them in planning local actions.

• Collect attendance data and maintain updated records of all community peace activities.
• Report progress, challenges, and community feedback to supervisors.
• Support MEAL team with data collection, surveys, and qualitative assessments related to social cohesion.
• Coordinate closely with community elders, religious leaders, schools, local authorities, and partner NGOs.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, Community Development, or related fields.
• Short courses in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, PSS, or social cohesion are an asset.

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in community work, teaching, psychosocial support, protection, or peacebuilding.
• Prior work with NGOs, INGOs, or protection/livelihoods projects in Afghanistan (Nimroz experience is highly desirable).
• Experience working with youth, women, and marginalized groups.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of peace education, conflict resolution, and community mediation.
• Skills in facilitating group learning, awareness sessions, and community discussions.
• Knowledge of conflict drivers and social dynamics in Nimroz.
• Basic understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
• Ability to prepare simple educational materials or adapt existing content.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication, active listening, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to build trust with diverse community members.
• Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
• Teamwork, problem-solving, and a positive attitude.
• Strong reporting skills in Dari, Pashto, and basic English.

Working Conditions

• Frequent field visits to rural communities and schools in Nimroz.
• Ability to work in challenging environments with vulnerable populations.
• Flexible schedule depending on community availability (including occasional evenings).
