The organization was informally established in 2012 and was officially registered with the ministry of economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2013.  Registration number (2852) was awarded to ASLO through NGOs Department of Ministry of Economy Kabul Afghanistan.

LEGAL STATUS

ASLO is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, non-profit and non-partisan organization and has the status of legal entity. The organization was informally established in 2012 and was officially registered with the ministry of economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2013.

Job Descriptions:

To support the implementation of safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring that children, women, and vulnerable groups are protected from harm, abuse, and exploitation. The role promotes a safe working environment, strengthens accountability, and builds staff and community awareness of safeguarding standards.

The Safeguarding Assistant is responsible for supporting safeguarding systems across ASLO’s projects. This includes awareness‑raising, monitoring compliance with safeguarding policies, reporting concerns, supporting case management, and building staff and community capacity. The role ensures accountability to donors and affected communities by promoting a culture of safety and protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of ASLO’s safeguarding policy and procedures across all projects.
  • Conduct awareness sessions with staff, teachers, and community members on safeguarding standards and child protection.
  • Monitor compliance with safeguarding protocols at project sites and report gaps to the Safeguarding Officer.
  • Report safeguarding concerns promptly and assist in case documentation with confidentiality.
  • Support referral pathways for survivors of abuse or exploitation in coordination with protection actors.
  • Provide feedback to the Program Manager on safeguarding risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in developing safeguarding indicators and monitoring tools.
  • Contribute inputs for monthly, quarterly, and annual safeguarding reports.
  • Participate in project reviews and planning workshops to integrate safeguarding measures.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting training for staff on safeguarding and child protection.
  • Maintain safeguarding records and databases with confidentiality.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess safeguarding practices and provide on‑site support.
  • Facilitate community consultations to ensure local voices are included in safeguarding planning.
  • Support the development of child‑friendly and gender‑sensitive reporting mechanisms.
  • Assist in risk assessments for new projects to identify safeguarding concerns early.
  • Collaborate with MEAL staff to integrate safeguarding indicators into monitoring frameworks.
  • Help ensure safeguarding messages are included in community awareness campaigns.
  • Provide orientation for new staff and volunteers on safeguarding policies.
  • Track and follow up on safeguarding action plans to ensure timely implementation.
  • Support coordination with other NGOs/INGOs on safeguarding best practices.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and zero tolerance for abuse within the organization.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of experience in safeguarding, protection, or related roles (NGO/INGO experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with humanitarian or education programming
  • Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
