Women Activities & Social Service Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 in Afghanistan as a non-governmental organization, committed to seeking ways for women's empowerment in Afghanistan. Job Descriptions:

The Junior Media Officer shall perform the following duties under supervision:

  1. Assist in preparing and disseminating press releases, media briefs, and public notices.
  2. Support coverage of WASSA activities, projects, and events (including photography, basic videography, and report writing).
  3. Assist in managing WASSA’s official media platforms, including social media accounts and website content, in line with approved communication policies.
  4. Monitor print, electronic, and social media coverage related to WASSA and prepare daily/weekly media reports.
  5. Assist in organizing press conferences, media interviews, exhibitions, and public awareness campaigns.
  6. Support the development of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials.
  7. Assist in handling public inquiries and feedback received through media platforms, ensuring professionalism and adherence to WASSA communication protocols.
  8. Maintain an updated media contact database and archive of media materials.
  9. Observe ethical standards, confidentiality, and government communication procedures as prescribed under WASSA rules.
  10. Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor in line with WASSA objectives.

Job Requirements:

  • More than three years experiences in field of media.
  • Practical training, internship, or volunteer experience in media or communication will be an added advantage.

4. Skills and Competencies:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of media operations and public relations practices.
  • Ability to prepare simple reports and media content.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic digital communication tools.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and internet use).
  • Ability to work in a team and be able to travel in field.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Willingness to learn and work under supervision.
