Job Descriptions:

Major Goal of the Position:         To provide quality Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services that promote mental well-being, resilience, and recovery among vulnerable individuals and communities, in line with OpMercy values and national guidelines.

 

Key Result Area (KRA) 1:              Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Service – The MHPSS Counselor will:

  • Provide comprehensive mental health case management services.
  • Provide individual and group psychosocial support sessions.
  • Refer cases requiring advanced or specialized care to appropriate services and follow up as appropriate.
  • Support beneficiaries to cope more effectively with stressors and enhance personal and community resilience.
  • Assist beneficiaries to resume their normal lives and overall mental well-being.
  • Meet community-identified mental health needs through comprehensive Mental Health Case Management.
  • Provide parenting skills training and psychoeducation sessions.
  • Engage with community members and structures to promote awareness of mental health and psychosocial well-being.

 

Key Result Area (KRA) 2:              Case Management, Referral, and Documentation – The MHPSS Counselor will:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential mental health case records and documentation.
  • Ensure timely and complete recording of MHPSS activities and beneficiary data using approved tools.
  • Respect confidentiality, ethical standards, and the dignity of all beneficiaries.

 

Key Result Area (KRA) 3:              Professional Conduct and Organizational Support – The MHPSS Counselor will:

  • Perform assigned duties in accordance with OpMercy policies, values, and codes of conduct.
  • Carry out additional official tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and ethical behavior at all times.
  • Participate in capacity-building activities to strengthen professional MHPSS skills.

Job Requirements:

Required Profile and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Psychology, Social Science, Health/Medical, Education/ Training
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in providing MHPSS services and/or working with community or public/primary health care services.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills.
  • Speaking skills – able to communicate clearly in Dari. Fluency in Pashto will be beneficial
  • At least 1 year of working experience in related area of the health field.
