Job Description

Safeguarding Officer will play a key role in advancing AYSO’s mission to promote safeguarding equality focusing on the following responsibilities.

Policy Implementation:

  • Implement and monitor safeguarding policies related to gender, GBV, and disability inclusion.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international safeguarding standards.

Training and Capacity Building:

  • Develop and deliver training sessions on safeguarding, focusing on gender sensitivity and disability inclusion.
  • Equip staff and partners with the necessary skills to recognize and respond to GBV and safeguarding concerns.

Community Engagement:

  • Engage with community members, particularly women and persons with disabilities, to raise awareness about safeguarding issues.
  • Facilitate focus group discussions to gather insights and feedback on safeguarding practices.

Reporting and Response Mechanisms:

  • Establish and maintain confidential reporting mechanisms for safeguarding concerns, ensuring accessibility for all individuals, including those with disabilities.
  • Respond promptly to safeguarding reports, ensuring that cases are managed sensitively and effectively.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Develop indicators to measure the effectiveness of safeguarding initiatives related to gender and disability inclusion.
  • Regularly review and assess safeguarding practices and recommend improvements.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, NGOs, and community-based organizations, to strengthen safeguarding efforts.
  • Participate in inter agency coordination meetings to share best practices and resources.

 

Any other tasks assigned by the line supervisors.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, gender studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in safeguarding, gender, or disability inclusion.
  • Strong understanding of GBV issues and the needs of persons with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of all individuals.
