Carpet Processing Trainer

The Carpet Processing Trainer will be responsible for delivering practical and theoretical training on cutting, washing, and finishing techniques as part of the Carpet Weaving Program in Herat. The trainer will support beneficiaries (returnees, IDPs, and host community members aged 16–35) in acquiring market-relevant post-weaving skills to enhance the final product quality. The role includes hands-on training, supervision of trainees, quality control, and ensuring finished carpets meet market standards for sale and exhibition. The position reports directly to the Carpet Weaving Specialist (Center) and works closely with project staff and beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and deliver training sessions on carpet cutting, washing, and finishing techniques.
• Provide practical training on:
  • Cutting: Pile leveling, shear-shaving techniques (hand and electric shears), edge trimming, and pattern definition.
  • Washing: Chemical and pressure washing methods to enhance luster, color brightness, and softness.
  • Finishing: Drying, stretching, framing, burling (fixing defects), and final quality inspection.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of processing tools and equipment (shears, washing pumps, drying racks, etc.).
• Supervise and mentor trainees during practical processing sessions.
• Maintain strict quality control standards to ensure finished carpets meet buyer and export requirements.
• Train beneficiaries on how to identify and correct weaving defects during the finishing stage.
• Ensure safe handling of washing chemicals and promote workplace safety standards (gloves, masks, ventilation).
• Prepare training plans, session schedules, and simplified visual materials for low-literacy beneficiaries.
• Monitor trainees’ progress, conduct skills assessments, and provide regular feedback.
• Maintain attendance records, training documentation, and inventory of processing supplies.
• Coordinate with the Market Access team to align finishing outputs with buyer expectations (cooperatives, exhibitions).
• Submit weekly and monthly progress reports to the supervisor, including trainee performance and product quality outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding (especially for women trainees), and project guidelines.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the line Manager.

  ترینر پروسس قالین مسئول ارائه آموزش‌های عملی و نظری در بخش برش، شستشو و تکمیل قالین در چارچوب برنامه قالین‌بافی در هرات می‌باشد. این ترینر از مستفیدین (عایدین، بیجاشدگان و جامعه میزبان با سن ۱۶–۳۵ سال) در کسب مهارت‌های مورد نیاز بازار پس از بافت حمایت نموده تا کیفیت نهایی محصول را بهبود بخشد. این وظیفه شامل آموزش عملی، نظارت بر مستفیدین، کنترول کیفیت و آماده‌سازی قالین‌ها برای فروش در نمایشگاه‌ها و بازار می‌باشد. این بست مستقیماً به متخصص قالین‌بافی (مسئول مرکز) راپور داده و با کارمندان پروژه و مستفیدین همکاری می‌نماید.

  مسئولیت‌های اساسی

• پلان‌گذاری، تنظیم و ارائه جلسات آموزشی در مورد تخنیک‌های برش، شستشو و تکمیل قالین.
• ارائه آموزش‌های عملی در موارد ذیل:
  • برش: هم سطح کردن پرز، شیو (با دستگاه دستی و برقی)، لبه‌زنی و مشخص‌کردن نقش.
  • شستشو: روش‌های شستشوی کیمیاوی و پرفشار برای افزایش براقی، روشنی رنگ و نرمی.
  • تکمیل: خشک‌سازی، کشش، فریم‌زنی، ترمیم عیوب (Burling) و بازبینی نهایی کیفیت.
• اطمینان از استفاده درست، نگهداری و ایمنی تجهیزات پروسس (قیچی، پمپ شستشو، ریک خشک‌کن و غیره).
• نظارت و رهنمایی کارآموزان در جریان تمرینات عملی پروسس.
• رعایت معیارهای سختگیرانه کنترول کیفیت مطابق نیاز بازارهای محلی و خارجی.
• آموزش مستفیدین در مورد شناسایی و تصحیح عیوب بافت در مرحله تکمیل.
• اطمینان از استفاده مصئون مواد کیمیاوی شستشو و رعایت معیارهای ایمنی محیط کار (دستکش، ماسک، تهویه).
• تهیه پلان‌های آموزشی، جدول زمانی و مواد درسی ساده برای افراد کم سواد.
• نظارت بر پیشرفت کارآموزان، انجام ارزیابی مهارتی و ارائه بازخورد منظم.
• حفظ حاضری، اسناد آموزشی و انبار مواد مصرفی پروسس.
• هماهنگی با تیم دسترسی به بازار جهت تطابق محصولات تکمیل‌شده با توقعات خریداران (تعاونی‌ها، نمایشگاه‌ها).
• ارائه راپورهای هفتگی و ماهانه به آمر مربوطه شامل عملکرد کارآموزان و کیفیت محصولات.
• رعایت پالیسی‌های اداره، اصول محافظتی (به ویژه برای زنان کارآموز) و رهنمودهای پروژه.
• اجرای سایر وظایف محوله از سوی آمر مستقیم.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or certification in textile processing, carpet finishing, handicrafts, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of practical experience in carpet cutting, washing, and finishing (preferably in a commercial or export-oriented carpet sector).
• Experience in vocational training or working with community-based programs (returnees, IDPs, host communities) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of traditional and modern carpet finishing techniques, including chemical washing for color enhancement.
• Experience working with NGOs or development projects is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of quality control, market standards, and buyer requirements for finished carpets.

• حداقل ۳–۵ سال تجربه عملی در بخش برش، شستشو و تکمیل قالین (ترجیحاً در سکتور قالین تجارتی یا صادراتی).
• تجربه در آموزش‌های تخنیکی یا کار با برنامه‌های مبتنی بر جامعه (عایدین، بیجاشدگان، جامعه میزبان) ترجیح داده می‌شود.
• آشنایی قوی با روش‌های سنتی و مدرن تکمیل قالین، از جمله شستشوی کیمیاوی برای بهبود رنگ.
• تجربه کاری با موسسات غیردولتی یا پروژه‌های انکشافی یک امتیاز محسوب می‌شود.
• آشنایی ابتدایی با کنترول کیفیت، معیارهای بازار و توقعات خریداران برای قالین های تکمیل‌شده.
