Job Description

Job PurposeThe Mushroom Technical Mentor will provide technical supervision and mentorship to beneficiaries engaged in oyster mushroom cultivation. The mentor will support beneficiaries before, during, and after the cultivation process to maximize productivity, minimize losses, and ensure proper harvesting, preservation, and utilization of mushroom products.The position requires regular field visits to beneficiaries' households and continuous technical follow-up throughout the project period.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Mentorship and Support
  • Provide practical technical guidance on oyster mushroom cultivation.
  • Orient beneficiaries on proper handling and management of mushroom cultivation kits.
  • Support beneficiaries in preparing suitable cultivation environments.
  • Monitor temperature, humidity, ventilation, hygiene, and other cultivation requirements.
  • Provide customized technical advice based on individual household conditions.
  • Identify and address cultivation challenges, contamination risks, and production constraints.
  • Guide beneficiaries on harvesting techniques and post-harvest handling.
  • Provide recommendations on mushroom preservation and storage methods.
  • Support beneficiaries in improving productivity and reducing losses.
Monitoring and Follow-Up
  • Conduct regular field visits to beneficiary households.
  • Verify proper utilization of mushroom cultivation packages.
  • Document progress, challenges, lessons learned, and technical observations.
  • Prepare field monitoring notes and recommendations.
  • Coordinate closely with GSRO Livelihood Specialists and Project Management Team.
Reporting
  • Submit weekly progress updates.
  • Prepare brief technical reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to project documentation, success stories, and impact reporting when required.
