Job Description

The main responsibilities of the HMIS Officer/Clinical Mentor are the following:

  • Orients newly hired staff on project activities and contractual requirements
  • Ensures availability of registers, forms, and other reporting formats in health facilities, and these are properly filled and reported, including registration of patients
  • Ensures that required health promotion learning resources are available in health facilities
  • Make sure that personnel files for all staff and clinical records of patients are maintained in related health facilities
  • Participates in coordination meetings at PPHD to ensure good coordination and implementation of activities
  • Check the quality of submitted monthly reports from 4C and share them with HMIS department of PPHD
  •  Check the quality of data from generation through reporting, and analyze the data at the monthly, quarterly, and project levels.
  •  Update the online databases monthly.
  •  Prepare and update HMIS tools and ensure the use of updated HMIS protocols.
  •  Follow up on the activities of the four committees. Generate list of required medicines and consumable materials and communicate to finance for including in monthly cash requests
  • Ensures a clean, safe, and secure working environment in health facilities by supervising supportive staff
  • Identifies training needs of staff and facilities and supports their professional development
  • Utilizes the BPHS guideline as a reference for performance and quality improvement

    Mentorship and apprenticeship responsibilities:

    • Coordination of apprenticeship program
    • Implement the apprenticeship guidelines and package
    • Conduct mentorship visits and provide technical support to 4C midwives regularly
    • Coordination with mentee and NAC mentorship focal point
    • Communication with Health Shura to make an enabling environment
    • Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback for mentees based on the daily action plan
    Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education: Graduated from a recognized midwifery institute, Passing the Exit Exam is Must

What are our language requirements?

Fluency in Uzbeki and Dari, with a working knowledge of Pashto and English

Experience:

 At least 3 years of experience in EPHS/BPHS and 2 years of experience with national or international NGOs implementing health programs

Skills:

ü  Excellent Managerial and conflict resolution skills

ü  Excellent Communication skills

ü  Understanding of Gender issues and cultural sensitivity

ü  Excellent Negotiating skills in multicultural and multilingual environments

ü  Good knowledge of the province, stakeholders, and local communities

    Excellent knowledge of the BPHS and Afghan health systems
