Job Summary

The Finance Assistant will support the Finance Department in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing payment documents, processing financial transactions, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, and applicable financial procedures.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare payment vouchers, receipt vouchers, and journal vouchers.
  • Record daily cash and bank transactions accurately.
  • Maintain proper filing and archiving of financial documents.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support bank and cash reconciliations.
  • Assist in payroll preparation and staff payment processing.
  • Monitor staff advances and ensure timely settlement.
  • Verify supporting documents before processing payments.
  • Maintain cashbooks and financial records.
  • Assist in budget monitoring and expenditure tracking.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and donor requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
  • Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Manager or Senior Finance Officer.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
  • Experience working with NGOs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of donor financial regulations is an advantage.

 

Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) is an advantage.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Languages

  • Fluency in Dari or Pashto (spoken and written).
  • Good working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
