Job Description

The MSMEs Assistant will support the implementation of enterprise development activities under the CARE’s livelihood project in Kunduz and Baghlan. The position is responsible for assisting in the identification, selection, assessment, capacity building, mentoring, and supporting MSMEs. The incumbent will work closely with entrepreneurs, producer groups, business associations, financial service providers, government institutions, and private sector partners to strengthen local businesses, improve market linkages, and promote sustainable employment opportunities.

1. Support the identification, assessment, selection, and registration of eligible MSMEs using approved project criteria and tools.
2. Maintain accurate records and databases of supported MSMEs and beneficiaries.
3. Assist MSMEs in developing business improvement plans and strengthening business performance.
4. Support the delivery of entrepreneurship, business management, financial literacy, and enterprise development training.
5. Provide coaching and mentoring to MSMEs to improve productivity, product quality, marketing, and financial management.
6. Promote climate-smart, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive business practices.
7. Facilitate market linkages with buyers, suppliers, financial institutions, and other private sector actors.
8. Support value chain development, market assessments, business networking events, exhibitions, and trade fairs.

9. Assist in implementing business grants, monitoring grant utilization, and maintaining related documentation.
10. Monitor MSME performance and collect data on business growth, employment, and project indicators.
11. Prepare monitoring reports, success stories, case studies, and other project documentation.
12. Coordinate with government authorities, business associations, training providers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders.
13. Ensure compliance with safeguarding, PSEA, Child Safeguarding, Gender Equality, and the organization's Code of Conduct.
14. Promote the inclusion of women, youth, persons with disabilities, returnees, and other vulnerable groups in project activities.

15. Support the organization of project training, workshops, and enterprise development events.
16. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor to support effective project implementation.

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Commerce, Management, Agriculture, Rural Development, or another relevant discipline. 


Languages

• Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto.
• Working knowledge of English is desirable.

Experience
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in MSME development, livelihoods, enterprise development, value chain development, private sector engagement, or economic recovery projects. 
• Experience working with NGOs or international development organizations is preferred. 
• Experience working with women-owned enterprises and youth entrepreneurship initiatives is an asset.
