Community Health Supervisor

Afghan Health and Development Services (AHDS) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization founded by Afghans on April 7th, 1990.  AHDS is an active member of the Afghan NGOs Coordination Bureau (ANCB), the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief (ACBAR), and the Alliance of Health Organizations (AHO). AHDS is one of the first signatories of the Codes of Conduct for NGOs engaged in humanitarian action, reconstruction, and development in Afghanistan.

The main office: AHDS is registered as a national NGO with the Ministry of Economy – Afghanistan. The registration number (5) was renewed on 25 Aug 2005 (old number 219 on 18 Nov 1999). Its TIN is 100 005 5 010.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Community Health Supervisor to lead our community-based health initiatives. In this role, you will oversee a team of community health workers (CHWs), bridge the gap between the clinic and the local population, and ensure that vulnerable communities have access to preventive care and health education. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep knowledge of public health principles and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise, mentor, and schedule a team of community health workers conducting door-to-door outreach.
• Develop and implement community health education programs on topics such as maternal health, nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor the quality of services and address community concerns.
• Collect, analyze, and report data on community health trends and outreach activities.
• Act as a liaison between the clinic, local leaders, and community members to build trust and improve health-seeking behaviors.
• Ensure the timely referral of community members to clinic services for follow-up care.

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in community health, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of primary healthcare, infectious disease control, and maternal-child health.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and crisis-management skills.
• Fluency in local languages and cultural sensitivity is mandatory.
• Ability to work in remote or field settings with limited resources.
