Job Description

Job Purpose

The Data Protection Officer / Information Management Specialist will ensure effective and secure management of organizational and program data, while supporting compliance with data protection, confidentiality, and information management standards. The position will strengthen data quality, reporting, analysis, and responsible data-handling practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and promote data protection, privacy, confidentiality, and information management policies and procedures.
  • Support the secure collection, storage, processing, sharing, retention, and disposal of personal and sensitive data.
  • Develop and maintain databases, data collection tools, dashboards, and information management systems.
  • Conduct data quality checks and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely availability of information.
  • Produce regular reports, dashboards, data analysis, and information products for management and program teams.
  • Identify and mitigate data protection and information security risks and support incident reporting.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on data protection, information management, and responsible data practices.
  • Coordinate with Program, MEAL, IT, Operations, and other teams to strengthen information management systems.
  • Ensure appropriate access controls, documentation, data-sharing arrangements, and data retention practices.
  • Support donor and internal reporting requirements as needed.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably with an NGO/humanitarian organization.
  • Experience in data protection, information management, databases, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and experience with tools such as Kobo/ODK, Power BI, or similar platforms is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of relevant local languages is an advantage.
