Afghanistan Development and Welfare Services Organization (ADWSO), an Afghan Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has been operating in Afghanistan since December 2008.  ADWSO’s priority sector areas are Child Protection, Capacity Building, Rule of Law, and Women Empowerment.

Job Description

  • Mobilize community structures to take ownership of  protection initiatives, enhancing their capacity to provide sustainable support to vulnerable communities/individules.
  • Strengthen the capacity of community structures to address vulnerabilities.
  • Integrate the voices of vulnerable community and children into network activities, ensuring all other at risk community members across all child protection initiatives.
  •  Ensure that protection initiatives are embedded within the fabric of community systems, contributing to long-term resilience.
  • Organize regular meetings with stakeholders to review progress, share best practices, and develop strategies to address the evolving needs in vulneralbe community protection.
  • Identify capacity gaps related to protection within local networks and organize targeted training sessions for community leaders and service providers.
  • Provide technical support to stakeholders on protection, violence, and prevention of abuse and exploitation, aligning with international standards.
  • Develop monitoring tools that assess the impact of protection activities, ensuring they meet project objectives.
  • Collect gender-disaggregated data on network activities to inform program improvements and advocacy efforts.
  • Prepare regular reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and key outcomes in promoting gender equality and child protection, ensuring accurate documentation of progress.
  • Ensure all network activities are designed to prevent and respond to proteciton needs and violence, with special attention to the needs of individule at risk.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in community engagement, partnership management, or network coordination with a focus on protection, ideally in Afghanistan.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding violence, child protection issues, and the Afghan context, with proven experience in developing and managing sensitive programs.
  • Skills: Leadership, communication, and facilitation skills with fluency in local languages (Dari and/or Pashto), as well as proficiency in English. Ability to work independently in a complex environment and manage multiple priorities.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel regularly to field sites in Balkh, Badakhshan, and other project areas.
