Welthungerhilfe it is one of Germany's biggest non-governmental relief organizations. Non-profit making, politically independent and non-denominational, the organization is run by a Supervisory Board of honorary members under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its work is funded by private donations and public grants. Welthungerhilfe is working since the 1980’s continuously in Afghanistan and opened the first offices in 1992. Since this time Welthungerhilfe has implemented some 165 projects in Afghanistan. Main fields of Welthungerhilfe intervention in Afghanistan are emergency relief, food and nutrition security, rural and regional development and water and sanitation.

Job Descriptions:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to WHH’s policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Monitor the field activities through WHH monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Assist in developing operational monitoring tools (questionnaires, databases, interview and survey forms, etc.)  with the M&E Officer.
  • Conduct regular data collection (including travel to project sites and household visits), data entry & data analysis based on project requirements with ensuring from data accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide timely inputs for new initiatives and improvements on M&E issues to the management team.
  • Participate in the project’s quality implementation, particularly through identifying weaknesses and strengths in WHH M&E issues and report to the management team.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the project’s results and achievements.
  • Actively collaborate with the MEAL Officer- Information Management and provide inputs to develop databases on project activities and assist in updating the database according to the project requirements.
  • Actively participate in project implementation and coordination meetings.
  • Support external M&E evaluators and experts as required.
  • Assist in developing/updating MEAL-related technical guidelines, manuals, procedures, concept papers upon request of the management team.
  • Provide inputs to project reports and publications upon request of the management team.
  • Assist in preparing the weekly/monthly schedule of monitoring and evaluation related activities.
  • Provide M&E verbal and written updates on a weekly basis to the management team.
  • Assist in maintaining a clear and transparent filing system.
  • Aim to continuously develop personal and organizational expertise on MEAL issues (using training, distance study, experience sharing with partners, etc.)
  • Support research and study activities on M&E related issues.
  • Participate in promoting and maintaining a healthy work environment free of SEA among staff and with WHH beneficiaries.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Education Requirement:

  1. Education requirements: University degree in Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Management, Economic, Environment Sciences, Natural Sciences or any other relevant field preferred.
  2. Experience: At least 1 – 2 years of working experience in a similar position in a national or international NGO.
  3. Other qualifications:
  • Excellent understanding of local context needs and challenges of the local communities.
  • Has good time management skills and can take on multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Nice, open-minded personality, willing to work in multicultural/multinational setting.
  • Highly approachable, trustworthy, and confidential.

Preferred skills:

  • Fluent in speaking and writing in the following languages: English and Dari/Pashto.
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets and word processing programs/systems and databases at a highly proficient level.
  • Effective   public   relations   and public speaking skills and research and program development skills.
  • Team working skills.
  • Problem solving and basic counseling skills.
  • Negotiations skills and effective verbal and listening communications skills.
  • Stress management skills.
  • Data management and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in AkvoFlow (or similar data collection application) is preferred.
