Kandahar Refugee Organization (KRO) is a national-level, non-political, non-profitable, non-governmental organization working for humanitarian and rehabilitation roots in Afghanistan. Further, KRO is an Afghan organization that is committed to the development of the local economy and building local capacity for sustainable development. Thus, we have an established specialized network in many provinces of the country in order to design, and implement related activities in the field of food security, research, capacity building, disaster management, and placement.
Job Purpose:
Gender Officer post is designed to provide overall practical/technical assistance to Kandahar Refugee Organization team members in order to enhance their capacity in the implementation of KRO ongoing projects. And; to work under the direct supervision of line-manager/supervisor.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Overall responsibility of Gender Officer is to ensure gender mainstreaming in the organization, gender technical inputs are given to all programs, ensure that staff have gender capacity to implement their project/program activities in accordance with KRO rules and regulations, provide technical/practical assistance to the involved team members upon the necessity either at site or in the office.
Responsibilities of the Job:
The following knowledge, skills and abilities maybe acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on the job training:
Bachelor degree
At least 2 years gender and development experiences
Highly proficient in written and spoken English.
Good knowledge of gender issues.
Experience the integrating gender perspective in the project plans and monitoring.
Ability to work as a team
Familiar with the work of NGOs.
Good command of oral and written English. Computer literacy is an added advantage.
