Afg-Chin Oil and Gas Limited is a company that collaborates with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan. They are involved in oilfield exploration, development, production, and surface engineering construction in northern Afghanistan. The company operates under an Exploration and Production Sharing Contract (EPSC) signed in January 2023
Objective of the Position
To provide legal expertise and support to the Legal Department by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and offering strategic legal advice. The Legal Officer will play a key role in mitigating legal risks, handling disputes, and supporting the organization’s operations with sound legal guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Research:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues affecting the company.
- Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company’s operations.
2. Document Preparation:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards and company policies.
3. Compliance:
- Support the implementation of compliance programs and policies.
- Monitor compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
4. Litigation Support:
- Assist in the management of litigation cases, including gathering evidence and preparing documentation.
- Liaise with external counsel as required.
5. Administrative Duties:
- Maintain organized records of legal documents and correspondence.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for senior management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate setting.
- Knowledge of corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
