It has been working in Afghanistan since 1998 and is presently managing long-term and short-term humanitarian and development programs to the people in need in countries around the world. SFL is currently operational in Afghanistan, Liberia, South Sudan, Senegal and Tajikistan. Our Headquarters is located in Minnetonka, MN and funded by multiple donors such as BPRM, USG, USDA and WFP. SFL has rich experience and provides assistance in the following areas; Agriculture Development, Food Security, livelihood and emergency, Shelter and Population Settlement, Application of Microcredit, Infrastructure Development and Health and Nutrition.

Job Descriptions:

Project foremen is responsible to directly manage implementation of project activities at the targeted districts of Kabul/Ghazni provinces, He oversees daily activities of labors, taking attendance of the labors and make sure to check skilled labor's work in the field as well, project foremen is responsible to provide timely report to project field engineer and  or project manager in case of any challenges/problems identified at the activity area during the project implementation period, and as well as the project foremen has responsibility to provide weekly progress report and well qualitied photos of activities to the project manager and other tasks which assigned by project manager and or project senior engineer. If needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Having good behavior with community people especially with skilled/unskilled labors and beneficiaries.
  • Have the ability of good leveling, Plumbing, Lining and goniometer.
  • Having good leadership skills and ability to communicate and report effectively.
  • Able to solving community and project challenges.  
  • Selection of skilled/unskilled labors with coordination of field responsibilities and assistance of related selection committee.
  • Supervise the work and the labors at the project locations.
  • Prepare and take the daily attendance sheet and make sure the labors’ presence.
  • Distribute the coupons before the food/cash distribution according to the attendance records.
  • Make sure the foods safety in the warehouse and report to the project manager in case of any problems.
  • Manage and help the distribution team in distribution of food for the labors.
  • Report daily/weekly/monthly activities/progress of project-to-project manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by program leadership (project coordinator/ Project Manager

Qualification/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Graduated from engineering or other relevant fields of studies.
  • Have the good knowledge of reading Auto CAD drawings and implementation of designed projects.
  • 3 to 5 years relevant work experience in the field of foreman and Supervisor with NGOs, INGOs or UN agencies.
  • Computer skills at the operator level, especially with MS Office packages.
  • Fluency in English and Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken.
  • Ability or experience of data verification and analysis.
  • Having strong report writing skills.    
  • Good communication skill and able to pass the massage/questions in local languages to the respondents.
  • Have good interpersonal skills and ability to plan work.
  • Supervisory, team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Regional and cultural knowledge of areas of SFL field operations in Afghanistan
  • Willingness to work long hours when required
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites and outside of duty station within Afghanistan and adjust to the SFL environment as frequently as required
  • Honest, proactive, well mannered, and must share values of SFL.
  • Willing to stay in field locations
  • Ready to work, live and travel in an intricate and strenuous environment
