Job Descriptions:

Job Responsibilities

The safeguarding Officer is accountable to carry out the following key role and responsibilities but not limited to:  

  1. Develop, implement, and monitor safeguarding policies and procedures;
  2. Provide safeguarding training and awareness sessions for staff, volunteers, beneficiaries including children and parents in community classes and other stakeholders.
  3. Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, managing referrals and investigations according to NQA’s safeguarding policy and child and adult protection policies.
  4. Record complaints and feedback and share with management as well as maintain confidential safeguarding records.
  5. Continuously review and improve safeguarding procedures based on new guidelines and case learnings.
  6. Participate in safeguarding meetings and report feedback and complaints.
  7. Coordinate and respond to official emails, phone calls, letters, and in-person inquiries from staff, partners, suppliers, and donors.
  8. Gather feedback, challenges, suggestions, and recommendations from relevant staff or partners.
  9. Prepare a brief weekly progress report, highlight key challenges, and seek guidance from management on addressing them.
  10. Actively participate in weekly and monthly senior staff meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and action plans.
  11. Actively participate in any training introduced by the organization and contribute to learning sessions that strengthen NQA’s policies to align with donor requirements.
  12. Ready to travel to remote region where NQA has its activities, be it relevant to his/her task or required by the organization.
  13. Perform any tasks that are not covered in this job description and provide support to other departments when necessary.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Law, Education or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 1+ years of experience in safeguarding, protection similar role, with national/international NGOs.
  • Certified training in safeguarding, protection, or gender.
  • Good Knowledge in office package and email.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; Excellent written and verbal communication in English is an asset.
