War Child is an international alliance working in 15 countries. This is an international charity working for children and youth affected by war. War Child initiated working in Afghanistan from 2002. In Afghanistan War Child Work with children and youth, who as a result of conflict, live with a combination of poverty, exclusion, and insecurity. Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to supervise the implementation of AHF Project Title: (Provision of immediate humanitarian assistance for the worsening drought in Afghanistan) in 2 provinces (Balkh and Jawzjan).

The project Coordinator will be responsible supporting the Grants/Sr. Program Manager with support and follow-up of the registration of the project and signing of the MoU with the sectorial Ministry, rendering strategic oversight and management of day-to-day delivery of the project, provincial level coordination, ensuring an effective work plan to facilitate timely delivery of the activities.

He will be responsible for efficient management of project resources and ensure timely communication with stakeholders and reporting to donor and will represent War Child UK to the cluster meetings at the provincial level. This role will be based in Balkh-Mazar-e-Sharif City with oversight covering Jawzjan province.

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Contextual Analysis: Maintain an overall context analysis of the situation within the provinces of implementation and districts level of implementation and generate monthly situation report with that reflects key developments with the humanitarian space of the project implementation. Support the security department in conducting regular security field assessments of the project sites.
• Leadership: Rendering both strategic and technical leadership in the designing and implementation of the project activities.
• Coordination:

• Internally, coordinate with core advisors, project teams and support function to ensure timely support to sourcing and delivery of project supplies and,
• Externally, coordinating with the relevant government counterparts include line departments at both provincial and district levels.
• Maintain regular contact and build good relations with stakeholders and regularly update them on the progress of the project implementation and challenges.
• Representation in sector specific forums (Clusters, Sub Cluster and working groups) or as delegated by the Sr. Program Manager.
• Supporting the Grant Manager with follow-up of the registration of the project and signing of the MoU with the sectorial Ministry, project presentation and discussions with stakeholders.

• Activity Planning, Designing, Implementation and project quality:

• Participate in the mapping out of activities areas, oversee the activities implementation in the respective project locations of Balkh and Jawzjan, track and report of project in achieving quality.
• Support the team in monitoring implementation and follow-up of the action plans.
• Ensuring effective planning of project activities, this includes inceptions, Assessments planning in coordination with MEAL and the relevant stakeholders and roll out of project activities.

• Management: render both strategic and technical process management in the day-to-day delivery of the project activities. This includes support for the teams and effective follow-up with respective functions of the organizations.
• Budget Management: Present the monthly cash forecast; ensuring optimal management and utilization of human and financial resources of the project, carryout monthly BvA meeting and regular budget revisions meeting and flag up any issues of concerns.
• Logistics/Procurement support: Develop detailed procurement and supply plans for the project; guide/support teams on procurement, admin, and finance activities of the project are according to organization policies.
• Team Management and capacity building support: Line manager staff members as per WCUK HR policies, ensures effective work planning by the team, conduct monthly meetings to ensure effective team management and support. In consultation with the thematic technical staff in War Child UK, develop relevant training modules and conduct series of training to staff and stakeholders in the project’s sites.
• Reporting: Generate monthly reporting on progress both internally and externally to the stakeholders including the clusters/hubs, ensure timely donor reporting and government reporting as well as share updates internally and participate in the EMT meeting on a regular basis.
• Safeguarding: Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.
• Carry out any other task that may be assigned or delegated.

• Person Specification

War Child operates in the northern region provinces of Afghanistan. Preference will be given first to local candidates from Balkh and Jawzjan provinces, and secondly to candidates from other northern region provinces. Applicants are required to upload a valid National ID to the HR system for further consideration.

Person Specification

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field relevant to humanitarian and development work is required.
• Minimum 3–4 years of proven experience in project implementation, preferably in AHF Child Protection projects or similar humanitarian programming.
• At least one year of hands-on experience in Child Protection (CP) case management and CPIMS+, gained through work with humanitarian organizations, preferably international NGOs.
• Formal training and demonstrated capacity in CP case management and CPIMS+, with the ability to apply these tools in emergency and humanitarian contexts.
• Experience in working with Children and Women in the context of northern region provinces.
• Excellent coordination, facilitation, and negotiation skills; High level of self-awareness and good interpersonal relations.
• Proficiency in languages in English (both written and verbal); Dari and Pashto
• Good report writing and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems and facilitate effective decision making.
• High frustration-tolerance level and ability to cope with stressful working conditions.
