Ghazanfar Bank, a full-fledged licensed commercial Bank, commenced its operations in March 2009. The Share Holders of the Bank belongs to one of the leading business groups of Afghanistan. As a leading business house Ghazanfar Group is involved in various key businesses sectors as a front runner such as import and distribution of Petroleum/Gas and other various important industrial sectors. Ghazanfar Bank started its operation in Kabul, Afghanistan, and is offering key financial services both under conventional and Islamic Banking. The Bank has since opened up its Branches at various key locations such as Mazar Sharif, Hairatan, Kunduz, Takhar, Pule- Khumri, Jalalabad, Herat, Kandahar besides opening another Seven branches at Kabul in Sarai Shahzada, Shar-e-Naw, Karte Naw, Kote Sangi, Lase Maryam, Karte Char and Wazir Akbar Khan. In due course of time, the Bank intends to expand its Branch Network in Kabul as well as at other key locations of the Country.

As Deputy Chief Islamic Banking Officer your responsible to:

1.  Control of Islamic Banking Department: Dy. Chief Islamic Banking Officer, besides, Chief Islamic Banking Officer shall be required to exercise utmost control over the Department and its daily activities. The controls to be implemented in assisting with Head of Islamic Banking by Deputy Islamic Banking as per the description of the Job Holder. The performances of the staff working in the Department is to be constantly monitored through reporting system in place and changes in the staff to be considered and implemented as and when it becomes necessary.
2. Manual/Procedures/Check Lists: Deputy Chief Islamic Banking Officer shall ensure that all the Manuals related to Islamic Banking and other procedures/check lists are in place and are being followed by the staff properly and effectively. Chief Islamic Banking Officer is also required to assist Dy Chief Islamic Banking Officer, to ensure that the Manual/procedures/check lists for Islamic Banking are being updated from time to time and that such changes are circulated among the staff. He has to guide newly hired staff about bank procedures and point out errors and deviations if any to the staff so as to enhance their skills.
3. Other Related Responsibilities:

• Dy Chief Islamic Banking is to attend to following responsibilities:
• Preparation of the products to be offered by the bank under Islamic Banking whether on Asset side or Liability Side and ensuring that these are compliant with Shari’ah and are approved by Shari’ah Committee of the bank and the relevant regularity authority set up for this purpose by DAB or The Government.
• Preparation of formats, documents and related material for Islamic Banking.
• To lead Islamic investment activities and identify potential investment opportunities.
• Ensure the growth of Islamic portfolio and lead the   Islamic Investment Team to achieve   the assigned target.

4. Control on vouchers/ entries: Deputy Chief Islamic Banking Officer shall ensure that a proper system, limits and procedures are being followed for passing entries/vouchers whether system raised or otherwise and that record of vouchers is maintained by the Islamic Area properly where required.
5. Job Descriptions: Deputy Chief Islamic Banking Officer shall ensure that proper Job description is written and given to each employee working under Islamic Banking department with the help of HR Head.
6. Reporting/Statements: Deputy Chief Islamic Banking Officer shall ensure that the required reporting by the Islamic Banking Side to HO or DAB is done timely and accurately and that the periodical account statements are sent out to the clients timely and accurately.
7. Customer Service: Deputy Chief Islamic Banking Officer shall ensure that best possible service standards are maintained in all the Areas of Islamic Banking of the Bank and complaints lodged by the clients if any are attended and grievances addressed in best possible manner as per the guidance of Islamic Banking Head.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s with concentration in Islamic Finance, Economics, Law, Accounting, Marketing or in Islamic banking or risk management.
• Professional training or certificates in Islamic banking related field a plus.
• 2 – 3 years Investment and Islamic finance experience with a recognized Islamic financial institution.
