Program Description: The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.
Job Purpose:
Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning his/her field of action and the team associated,
according to JHPIEGO values, policies and protocols, and female cluster office standards, to warrant the
quality and continuity of care.
Key Accountabilities:
o To clean the related unit and office (inside and outside) and furniture and equipment on daily basis.
o To wash daily or whenever required and to clean the doors, windows and glasses when required.
o To take away the garbage/ waste of the health center on daily basis and burn it at prepared places on
daily basis.
o To check and look after the toilets/bathrooms and their needs i.e., toilet paper, brushes, cleaning
powder and soap, etc., and report any problems immediately.
o Helping staff prepare lunch and other laundry‐related miscellaneous tasks.
o To take care of staff newborns and children
o To turn on and off the water pump to fill the tank of the related unit when needed.
o To turn off all the lights and unplug the forgotten heater/ AC before leaving the office.
o Any other activities assigned by the direct/indirect supervisor.
1. At least basic school.
2. At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
3. Fluent in Pashto and Dari.
4. Be flexible and accountable for her given responsibilities.
5. Able to work under pressure.
6. Be able to communicate with staff properly.
7. Good knowledge of written and spoken Pashto and Dari is desirable.
8. Respect cultural and social norms and strictly follow privacy measures.
