About TLO:

The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Kandahar, Herat, Mazar, and Nangarhar and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.

Job Descriptions:

The Master Trainer will report directly to the Provincial Coordinator and will work closely with other program staff to ensure alignment with project goals. He/ She will support the capacity building component of the project by delivering high quality training sessions for teachers and SMS members, facilitating TLC, and provide follow up support. The role aims to strengthen education practices within schools, ensure effective community involvement, and promote sustainable learning practices.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

The Master Trainer will undertake the following responsibilities but not limited to;

  • Conduct and co-facilitate training sessions for teachers, Education Officers/ Community Mobilizers on teaching methodologies, classroom management, and curriculum implementation.
  • Facilitate training for SMS members on topics such as safeguarding, community involvement in schools’ governance, student support strategies and schools’ improvement planning.
  • Modify training content to meet the contextual needs of participants and make necessary adjustments based on participants feedback and assessment.
  • Facilitate TLCs by guiding teachers in collaborative learning sessions, sharing best practices, reflection tools, and develop and disseminate resource materials to support TLCs.
  • Monitor and evaluate TLC sessions to ensure that they meet project objectives, providing feedback and adjustments as needed.
  • Mentor teachers and Shura members, providing ongoing support to address challenges in applying training insights to real-world scenarios.
  • Collaborate with other trainers and program staff to identify training needs and areas for improvement.
  • Track and report on training sessions, participant engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Conduct follow-up visits or remote check-ins with participants to assess the application of training knowledge.
  • Submit regular progress reports on training sessions, including training attendance, achievements, feedback, success stories, and areas requiring further attention for future training interventions.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least (4-6) years proven experience in conducting teacher training and working with community stakeholders, ideally in a rural or low-resource context.
  • Familiarity with participatory training methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Strong facilitation, mentorship, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Proficiency in local languages and English, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
