Job Descriptions:

Position Purpose:

The Nurse in the Mobile Health Team (MHT) will provide high-quality nursing care in mobile clinics, offering essential health services to underserved and remote populations. The nurse will work in close coordination with other healthcare providers, ensuring effective healthcare delivery in the field.

Scope of Work:

  • Clinical Nursing Care:
  • Conduct patient assessments and provide basic health care, including vital signs, general examinations, and patient history.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the physician or medical doctor (MD) within the scope of nursing practice.
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, and minor first aid interventions.
  • Offer maternal and child health services, including immunizations, prenatal care, and postnatal care.
  • Assist in emergency medical situations, providing initial first aid, stabilizing patients, and managing referrals.
  • Deliver basic maternal and child health services.
  • Health Education and Promotion:
  • Provide health education to individuals and communities on key health issues such as hygiene, nutrition, infectious disease prevention, and family planning.
  • Organize and conduct health education sessions in mobile clinics, schools, community centers, or other venues.
  • Counsel patients on lifestyle changes and preventive care to promote long-term health and well-being.
  • Monitoring and Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and follow-up notes.
  • Record and report on the number of patients seen, conditions treated, and medical supplies used during mobile clinic activities.
  • Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained according to professional ethical standards.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work closely with the MD, health officers, community health workers, and other members of the mobile health team to deliver integrated healthcare.
  • Participate in daily briefings and case discussions with the team to ensure patient care is well-coordinated.
  • Assist in patient referrals to higher-level healthcare facilities when needed.
  • Support the medical team in case of emergencies, including disaster response or outbreaks, as part of the mobile health team's overall mission.
  • Medical Supply Management:
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment in mobile clinics.
  • Report any shortages of medications, vaccines, or equipment to the team leader or logistics coordinator to ensure stock replenishment.
  • Assist in inventory management and ensure the proper disposal of medical waste.
  • Emergency Response and Crisis Management:
  • Provide first aid and emergency medical care during disaster relief, outbreaks, or other medical emergencies.
  • Assist with patient triage, prioritize care, and manage emergency medical evacuations if necessary.
  • Ensure that protocols for handling infectious diseases or other public health emergencies are followed.
  • Capacity Building and Training:
  • Assist in training and mentoring local healthcare workers, community health workers, or other support staff in basic nursing practices and health interventions.
  • Participate in health campaigns and awareness programs to build community health capacity.
  • Key Deliverables:
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in mobile health clinics.
  • Deliver health education to communities, increasing awareness on preventive health and hygiene.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and reports.
  • Efficient management of medical supplies, ensuring the availability of essential medications and equipment.
  • Effective collaboration with the Mobile Health Team to achieve program objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the relevant supervisor or HEWAD leadership.

Job Requirements:

    • Graduated from an intermediate medical institute (Nursing)
    • At least 2 years of work experience in the related field.
    • Must be fluent in local languages.
    • Expert diagnostic skills.

    • Strong patient management skills.
    • Strategic guidance and planning skills.
    • Honest, reliable, and maintains confidentiality.
    • Have enough experience in TFU, OT, ICU, Sterilization, and OPD.
