Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

Job Descriptions:

    • Organize the purchase and delivery of goods to support office and project store in a transparent way.
    • Ensure for bulk purchase three quotations sought from three suppliers.
    • Receive and distribute goods in professional manner (count goods in and out, make sure that paperwork is complete)
    • Ensure that all logistics and stores paperwork is properly completed and stored (e.g. delivery notes; waybills; stock cards).
    • Provide support to the office and all other administration matters.
    • Provide support to supervision of vehicles and drivers in terms of maintenance, Fuel and movements.
    • Supervise project vehicles and drivers and ensure proper maintenance and servicing.
    • Supervise project machinery operators and ensure proper maintenance and servicing.
    • Maintain an asset register for the entire project related FHHs.
    • Ensure availability of updated inventory items list, their tag numbers, and equipment locations in all FHHs and other HFs.
    • Solely responsible for the overall inventory management of the project
    • Make sure that all equipment is tagged and available in specified locations.
    • Maintaining tracking sheet and recording daily logistic activities on regular basis.
    • Provide support to the Office in all other administrative matters.
    • Assist the Administrative Officer in maintenance and construction works of the project.
    • Monitor daily wage labors with their daily wage and time sheets.
    • Make sure the required tools and materials are provided for the works on time.
    • Visit the related FHHs and other HFs as per need basis to support the project activities.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the related supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Diploma in management and accounting from a reputable university with over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Having university Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or any other related discipline from an accredited university is preferred.

 

   Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience of working as Administration and logistics Assistant.
  • Ability and Experience in translating technical materials from English to Dari and vice versa is an asset.

 

  Skills and competences:

  • Good communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage change in staff practice, staff mentoring and organizational development.
  • Excellent computer skill in word, excel, MS office, Database, and Outlook
  • Good spoken and written English language skills.
  • Ability to work independently and can take initiatives.
  • Experience and ability to work with communities, partners, and donors for development of projects.
  • Flexible team player.
  • Ability to work under pressure and difficult work conditions.
